How to Get Sales from Canada

I have a question for Canadians and anyone else from countries other than the USA. Can we get credit for Amazon sales to Canada, done through Amazon.ca, if we get an affliate number there, on Hubpages. I have looked on the Amazon forums for this answer, and couldn't find it.

I have a hub that is focused on a Canadian TV show that would appeal mainly to Canadian. It has boxed copies of the show available through Amazon, but I have had no sales. It is conceivable that there have been some clicks, but I would not credit if the sale is done through the Canadian version of the store, where I believe buyers would be re-directed to automatically.

Has anyone else dealt with this, and found a solution that works? Thanks!

The global Amazon stores are separate entities.  You need a separate account for each, whether as a buying customer or an affiliate.  Hubpages only has a tie-in with Amazon.com (U.S.).

The staff was looking into the possiblity of linking your Amazon ads to the local Amazon site, where your viewer happens to be.  I haven't heard anything about it lately.

The only thing I could suggest, is getting an affiliate account with Amazon.ca and a tracking code for that item.  Then placing that link in one of your text capsules, using the name of the product as your 'anchor text'.

So, when someone clicks on the contextual link, they're taken to the Amazon.ca product page for the item.  You get the commission from Amazon.ca.  Just be sure there's no more than 2 such links in the article.

Thanks, Timorous, for the information. That's too bad, because as a Canadian, I will tend to write Canadian stories. That means we can only sell Amazon to the States.

I guess I could try the affiliate link. I don't think that would be nearly effective as an amazon ad, though.

    Thanks again!

You'd be surprised how effective a text link might be, if it's worded in an enticing way...  perhaps indicating that they can buy it from Amazon.ca  It's worth a try.
      I'm Canadian as well...eh?

Right on, Timorous, I am glad to hear from a fellow Canuck. I was wondering if I could see a real example of how to do this internal link.

        Thanks!

I asked a similar question regarding the UK. I was advised to set up my own Amazon store on the Amazon UK site. I've found I can create groups of products on different pages in the store. This gives one link for a number of products. I incorporate this as a text link to draw people's attention to the fact the products are available in the UK.

I must admit I've not had any sales yet from there. However, considering in all the time I've been here, I've only managed to make about $25 on Amazon US, I suppose it's not surprising particularly since I only started a couple of weeks ago!
