Is it me, or is Hubpages search not working the way it should?

So I wrote a comedy piece involving a Russian petite lap giraffe.

I created the keywords: "petite lap giraffe" and "petite lap giraffes"

The hub contains the exact phrase "petite lap giraffe"

It contains a picture with a caption containing the phrase "petite lap giraffes."

Now, I know, you're going to say that it's probably just buried by the millions of other hubs about petite lap giraffes...

... but how is it even possible that I could type in "petite lap giraffe" to the search and NOT get a hit for the hub?

Try it.  Search all hubs for "petite lap giraffe"

      result:  "No results found."

If you search the whole site, I have one comment that shows up... but between comments, captions, and the hub, and the keyword, I've entered that phrase onto HP something like 5 or 6 times.

    From hub:

"Jerry, my recently procured petite lap giraffe, is doing quite well. He exercises regularly on his treadmill, and helps keep me motivated to work out."

    From pic caption:

"Source: Sokoblovsky Farms - Russia's finest purveyors of petite lap giraffes"

    From search:

    "No results found."

Am I getting lost in the stampede?  I understand it's a hot topic.

I think it does work, well sort of  - it comes up with the comment about three kidneys that you posted on there. When you follow the comment link it is to the hub.

Yes, but only that comment.  I have three threads mentioning it, a hyperlink NAMED "petite lap giraffes", and two pic captions, and it's in the entered search keywords for two or three threads.

None of those show up.  If I hadn't typed that comment, HP search would show nothing at all even though I went to what I thought were ridiculous lengths to keep mentioning the phrase.

        OK.

Now this forum thread appears in search too...

        ... but not the hub.

I don't understand.  If keywords don't do it, pic captions don't do it, text links don't do it, and having the text directly in your hub doesn't do it, then basically, how is the search good for anything at all you might be looking for in a hub?

          hmmm... ok

Now 8 hours later, hub shows up.

As far as I can tell, there's a time lag for anything to show.

          Pic captions never show.

The time lag is greater for hubs than for forum.

I can confirm that the HubPages search engine isn't always quick at indexing new hubs.  The last hub I wrote took over 24 hours before it showed up in the search results.

Then again, I've had a few of my hubs show up within an hour or two, so maybe it's just luck of the draw.

Yeah... seems like hub keywords and pic captions don't list regardless.

    Forum titles do, tho smile
