I want to fill some empty space in my garden with a plant that has a maximum spread of 2 to 2.5 feet and a minimum height of 6 to 7 feet. An evergreen leafy plant would be better.

    Any idea??

Japanese maple........., or if you'd like a possible flowering plant suggestion, I'd like to suggest a Bee-Balm, or a Butterfly bush.  They're lovely.  Cannot think of any different evergreen plants from the most common planted.

IntimatEvolution, you suggested some of the most beautiful plants. Loved all three of your suggestions. Thanks! smile

you could try planting some bamboo, do check the variety as they differ a lot, if you get one that spreads a lot that is not a problem as i have grown Indocalamus tessellatus Tessellatus which is not too vigorous and grows to about 7 feet, i have actually sunk a large container into the ground and grown it in that to stop the spread of the roots. Happy planting

Not "leafy" but evergreen-- an Italian Cypress grows narrow and tall.

Thanks but this doesn't suit the location, would kind of stand out and won't make a combination with other plants.

    Rosemary
Rosmarinus officinalis is not tall enough but is about 24 inches wide, only reaches about 4 feet.

Rosemary does indeed enhance lamb, good tip. It is a good decorative and culinary plant.

You could plant a bay tree and prune it into shape?

I agree that an Italian or Monterey cypress would be good but will get very tall. There are other evergreen shrubs that can be clipped and shaped. Other suggestions:
Brush cherry (syzygium), "Sky pencil" holly, "Green Spires" euonymus, podocarpus macrophylla, and boxwood (buxus)or myrtus varieties. Ask at your nursery.

Rosemary can be used with potatoes roasted in the oven.
