Bob Schieffer on face the nation, while interviewing Michele Bachmann, told Bachmann, at the end of his show, that he felt that she did not answer his final question.
He had brought up an accusation by Bachmann, saying that Obama had only issued 1 offshore drilling permit, when in fact, he had issued over 200 such permits.
She weaseled her way out of that, by changing the direction of the topic, from issuing permits, to the actual drilling not taking place.
During this interview, Bachmann dodged answering a lot of questions and/or twisted the conversation in all different directions. If this is her example of competent leadership, I wouldn't give her my vote on a bet, and I am a Minnesotan.
That interview may as well have not happened. She had only accusations of Obama not knowing about how to deal with the economy, while not offering up any solutions of her own.
She accused Obama of having an (unprecedented unemployment of over 9%). Hell, He inherited that figure from Shrub! She also neglected to mention the opposition from the republican party, to almost every piece of legislation he proposed.
If this display of character is what we can look forward to if she is elected to the presidency, God help us. There will be Very little truth, and a lot of constant maneuvering to shed any guilt she should bear for her mistakes. I truly believe that she is unwilling to admit when she is wrong!
Michelle Bachmann plays 'Dodge the Nation'.
Bachman's very intelligent, diligent, and a great politician...
... compared to Palin.
Same old stuff - thinly veiled hypocrisy - blame the other guy.
I don't see the appeal in another shrill, president bashing woman candidate.
Sorry Guys, when she made that statement she was correct; sinse that statement only one permit was granted, and it was after her original statement. She was trying not to trash Obama and fall into hands of reporters who do not research, just announce on TV
article is below: look at the Date of issue..?
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The Obama Administration approved a permit to drill a deepwater oil well in the Gulf of Mexico Monday, the first such permit issued since the BP disaster last spring.
The permit is for a Noble Energy well in Mississippi Canyon Block 519, approximately 70 miles south east of Venice, La., close to the spot where the BP rig sank.
734Email Print "This permit represents a significant milestone for us and for the offshore oil and gas industry, and is an important step towards safely developing deepwater energy supplies offshore," said Michael Bromwich, director of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement.
The agency has been heavily criticized by the oil industry and others along the Gulf coast for delays in issuing new drilling permits.
Only 37 shallow water permits have been issued since a moratorium issued following the BP spill in April was lifted in the summer. The deepwater moratorium was officially lifted in October, but no new permits had been issued until Monday.
The industry argued the delays have cost jobs and hurt domestic production. Supporters of the go-slow approach contend it was necessary to reform a badly flawed oversight process in the wake of the worst oil spill in U.S. history.
Schieffer, needs to spend some of his syndicate bucks on researchers, and not pledges who, although full of passion for the job, are un-experienced.
I am unfamiliar with the drilling permits but agree that she hasn't offered any solutions to the economy problems we face. Nothing but accusations that ignore every effort by the GOP to stop Obama at every turn. I get the imptression they are willing to spend the next two years fighting every attempt at fixing anything. They are willing to sink this country if it means they might win in 2012.
Diutch you stated that "The industry argued the delays have cost jobs"
Regulate the oil comapny and they will cut jobs, regulate the coal industry and they will take jobs, pass a healthcare bill the healthcare industry doesn't like and they will cut jobs, Do away with tax cuts for the wealthy and they will cut jobs. I'm getting tired of being threatened with job losses everytime a bill is considered to reign in their disregard for the country the do business in and the citizens that live here,
I think the industry is saying exactly that. The permit delays, etc... all to costly to Jobs. They are telling us they will cut. I believe the Parties do not think they mean it! They have delusionary dreams of svaing the USA, but no practical solutions.
It is dangerious to folks like us for sure. Agree..

Is there any Republican presidential candidate more entertaining that Michele Bachmann? Sure, there's Herman Cain and his new-affair-every-week-or-your-money-back policy. And then there's Newt Gingrich and his constant stuttering while trying to spit out the phrase "sanctity of marriage",...
