Google PR update

   I just noticed that all my PR2 Blogs are now PR1. Anyone else having the same problem? It is really pathetic that a Blog which has over 100000 views per month out of which 85% is organic traffic is also PR1.

      hmm... my pr2 blog is now pr1 too! But I am not really surprised coz I never really fully understand how page rank works!

         Honestly, Even I have no clue. If a Blog with Original content  widely promoted and at least 1 post on a daily basis is PR1 then I would rather stop taking the trouble of posting daily.

   Well something's bizarre..... I've never bothered about PR rank... and the few occasions in the past 4-5 years I checked my main site it was always unlisted.
   
   Just checked - and I'm a PR3.
   
   I now have to check all the others!
   
   I have two at PR2 and another PR3.  I have two still a PR0. 
   
   It's not something I bother about to be honest.  There's so much one can bother about, there are too many things

      That's awesome! At least someone has a reason to celebrate. Anyways, I don't think I should bother much either as the 2 blogs which earn me 3 figure incomes have the keywords still at number 1 on Google.

   Page rank is a linking indicator, it simply measures backlinks and gives a value for the Google algorithm based on that. The PR Algorithm is known, and you can easily find it, but it is only a small part of the overall ranking algorithm. My advice - Don't worry about it, PR is not that important.

   PR is a parameter that relates to some extent to how you will rank in search engines.  If you have a better way of getting that information it doesn't matter, but if not... well it is worth keeping an eye on.

      PR is much too small a factor to indicate SERPs.

   I am not saying PR is something the website "does".  It is more like a general 'check engine light' that can alert those not plugged into first order parameters to an issue with their site.  As such it has some value for some people.  It does relate, quite strongly, to whether you or your direct competition will come up first on Google.

      I can guarantee that it does not.  You can get a high PR by getting backlinks from other high PR sites that are low quality. however when it comes to ranking, you will not get much benefit from high PR-low quality sites.
      
      Googles focus is now on site trust, not PR, and PR can often be a misleading indicator as to how a site will fare in the SERPs.

         Exactly, what I gathered. Having tons of backlinks do not count much anymore. I have worked on PostRank, and the results are quite fast to see.

         It is inaccurate to say it is highly important.  It is equally inaccurate to say it is completely without value.  I was responding to the latter statement but saying it has more than no value so long as you have an accurate understanding of what PR is.  I am surprised people would disagree with that.  It is kind of like saying copper is not gold, but it is also not dirt.

            Oli is right in his statement about the PR value at the moment. Its quality backlinks that counts, Now, the parameters which decides on a quality backlink has changed. It no longer takes (only) the PR values of the site you link from.
            Another PR value is at work.
            Its nothing personal.

   The blog I started promoting jumped to PR2 from PR0.

   I hope to raise it to PR5 by next update.
   
   But what I would really love to see is, how the PostRank will play in the whole game.

   I never said that PR was completely without value.
   
   What I am saying is that you should be focusing much more on links that come from high trust sites, not high PR sites.

      It definitely did add some value to my Blog on Relationships (which first dipped from PR3 to PR2 and now PR1) as I have around 35+ Guest Bloggers who have made posts. I am really disappointed now.

   i see google's version of the like button, the "+1" button would have an affect on rankings, which means it could be abused more and those at PR1 will see themselves drop.

   My previous PR 4 profile seems to have changed to n/a
   
   Meanwhile a lot of my hubs have attained a PR2, though some previous PR2's have dropped to 1, and my blogs have lost any PR they had. Hmmmm.

      I saw the changes too, But I am happy that around 160 of my hubs have more than PR1. Time to start selling contextual links.
