My content has a right to rank higher on the originating website than it does on the duplicate content website. My content is my content Google. Just because the other business website was not penalized by Panda does not mean you have the right to bury my original content. You have no right and it is stealing Google. You are a thief in doing this and it is wrong. And it should be illegal. It should be the stuff of antitrust. You stepped over the line with your power. You have destroyed the internet. It is an outrage that you can do this to our original content. I hope you are broken up into little pieces.

And, I am just curious, but what in the world would make you think that by posting this thread, that Google would ever see it? roll

      I assume he's just having a rant!

Bgamall, I hope you're going after the duplicate website(s) with all guns blazing.

Yes, it is a rant. You will note that content from the Atlantic and from other websites with an appropriate link makes it to BI all the time. No one cares, or at least Google, the important one.

He raises a good point though.  Google does have too much power over the internet (somewhere around 35,000 searches per second).  Here's a cracked article that talks about the issue...

I learned long ago that its not important to me how Google ranks my content. Its a wonder to me that my nickname and Corporation name are on their first pages respectfully. Google is for the people with money, and is getting to the point where they don't care who they step on to get more.

My complaint is for a lot of types of information hub pages is the best place to find it. They even have their own search engine which help us within the community. Why don't they take it further and make this search engine available to everyone.

I guess in a sense they do because anyone who can find it can join hub pages whether they can write or not. We won't go into that. I personally remember finding the first hub pages article on page 53 of a Google while I was researching wheelchair parts. My trainer told me that quite often you could find better deals if you took a search back to page 50 or beyond.  I still don't remember why I bookmarked hub pages, but am glad I did.

Of course it is important. I don't get paid for contributing to BI. I should have my content, where I can make a little money, first in search. Other companies do it, and they aren't penalized. Why me? It is a rigged game.

Was it Google who vowed to do no harm? They are thieves and robbers.

I hope others see this because it is hurting Hubpages unfairly. This is totally unfair.

It's not just Hubpages though. The new Google algo has done nothing to clean up the search results.

For example, one of the new blogs I started sells books. I picked a template and put up a couple of posts, then went on to work on other blogs.

Just yesterday I discovered that someone else has chosen a blog name that is very similar to mine, copied the exact same template and background, and added 100 posts.

All of their posts are copy/pastes directly from the Amazon site while mine are fresh re-writes, and I don't spin. It takes time to sit and read everything everybody says about a book and condense that into a few sentences.

Then I checked his blog in Market Samurai and he has gained nearly 1000 backlinks in about 3 weeks.

According to a stat counter on his site, he has also attained 1000 views already.

So much for worrying about duplicate content! So much for, "we want fresh content" . Cream always rises etc.

It's all a game to those folk, and Google still can't see the woods for the trees.

Google's only power is they are a service people prefer to use.  nothing locks people into using it.  I remember when people used AltaVista or AskJeeves, before Google rocked a better algorithm.  They earned it.

I disagree. I remember when Google was the new boy in town. At that time I used AlltheWeb, and they returned really speedy results. Google matched them and every forum was ablaze with talking about this new Google service.
I don't really know how I came to use Google all the time - maybe clever marketing on their part. They grew huge, suddenly it was Google this and Google that. I was busy doing something else offline when Adsense was launched.
Somehow, Google become THE search engine to use, but now they are abusing their power.
