We recently made an improvement to how Notifications about new Hubs by Hubbers your follow work.  Previously users could select to receive instant notifications or a digest.

Now you can receive both instant notifications and a digest, if you choose.  Also, you can select the frequency of the notifications.  Previously you would be notified about all Hubs which Hubbers you follow publish.  This option is still available.  However, we released a new option as well: auto.  If you select "auto", then you will only be notified when a Hubber who you follow publishes a Hub in an area that we think you have an interest (e.g., if you are following the topic, or spend a lot of time reading Hubs in that topic).

Many Hubbers enjoy selecting their "instant" notification to "auto", and their "digest" notification to "all".

These settings can be change in your email settings page.

Nice!  I'm really digging the "auto" setting, Ari.  It has made a big difference for me!

    Sorry, folks, it's not working.

I get an email notification message from you that says  "1 Question that you are following has a new Answer:", and there's no link to the question.

Then at the end of the email, after a list of what I think represents new Hubs published by those I follow, there's this: "You can stop receiving an email digest of your notifications on HubPages by visiting your Email Settings page." The link embedded in "Email Settings" goes here:

    https://hubpages.com/my/profile/securit … 20Settings

    This is what I see:

    http://s3.hubimg.com/u/5243254_f248.jpg

When did I tell you in what city I met my spouse/significant other? And when did I tell you what my favorite ice cream flavor is (I think it's chocolate, but you think it's something else)?

My bank asks these security questions, and I have them written down, as I set them up when I opened the account. I would have done the same if you had asked for them, but I don't recall your asking them.

What's up? What did I miss?

      Hi Sally's Trove,

It looks like there are two separate issues here.  The first is the bug that says "1 Question that you are following has a new Answer" with no link.  I recently received another report of this bug, and am working on it now.

The 2nd issue is the security question.  I believe that Hubbers had to create these security questions when they joined the HubPages Ad Program.

And so how do I change those security question answers (even though I don't recall ever giving HP that info)? And now that I'm thinking about it, what do they have to do with changing my email notification settings? What about people who didn't sign up for the HP Ad program? Do they have security questions to answer before they can change their email notification settings?

This makes no sense to me...please enlighten.

          Hi Sally's Trove,

We have 3 answers on file for the security questions for you. You probably set them up back when you first signed up for the HubPages Ad Program. You were missing the correct answer to your favorite ice cream because of a typo in the answer, and the other two you may have forgotten.

Because I have verified that this is you and that your attempts were close, I reset your security questions. Upon logging in again, you can set up 3 new ones for your account.

We most recently have been verifying the answers for HubPages Ad Program newbies, since important personal information is provided to HubPages when users set up the Program. I typically verify answers via email before resetting. If anyone else stumbles into a problem related to the security questions, you can email payments@hubpages.com.

        Hi Kashmir56,

I believe that the digest is currently set to go out at 11:05am every morning.  However, we are considering changing this to go out earlier (e.g. 5am) in the future.  Stay tuned.

        Ari

      Hi Ari,

I wish to change my email settings to alter them, but I am prevented by this as it asks me for three "security questions" of some kind. I do not know the answers to them as I forgot them. How do I change my email settings, or should I just UNSUBSCRIBE from receiving any more emails from Hub Pages?

      Help would be appreciated.

      Cathy.
