Why does religion rise so much emotion ? Why do religeous people so often get angry with atheists ?
Why , when I was five , was I attacked by a friend (same age), when I told him santa claus didn't exist ?
What?!?! Santa does not exist?? No, no, it can't be! I do not believe you! *runs at sourman to attack him*
I'm a Catholic accountant who does most of his work for evangelical fundraisers who fund Christian and secular aid workers who do much of their work in Muslim and Hindu countries. I rarely see the kind of uncivil discourse displayed here. I think religion raises a lot of ire here because:
1. The anonymity of the Net: few of us have to work with each other tomorrow
2. Many of us are self-promoters, so it pays to be bombastic.
3. We have a variance of belief, but no reason to moderate our comments.
I think if we took most of the people who post here and put them in a room together to discuss the same topics, we would end up with more appreciation for other people's point of view (although probably no more agreement).
And what fun would that be? None.
And you're all going to burn in hell.
Good night.
The Diversity seems to be 50/50
Each side projecting their views ,the way they see it,or simply disagreeing ....because they can
Here's my theory:
In any other forum, discussion is limited by unfortunate material facts. The Cardinals won or they didn't. Heartworm kills dogs or it doesn't. Cars can run on water or they can't.
Only in the religion forum can one, with a straight face, produce "arguments" ex cathedra from one's belly button (or someone else's), and call them "facts", and rely on them for further deductions, and genuinely expect other people to take one seriously, and even bleat plaintively when they don't.
That makes this forum ever so much more creative and interesting than the others, IMHO ...

Why are people so quick to attack others beliefs? This forum is a prime example! Whenever I click on any forum post, it is filled with condescending word wars! It seems like most of us have absolutely no respect for one another on here. I can't speak for everyone, but Christians, aren't we supposed...

The hypothetical part:Say HP were cheesed off enough to think 'The religion sub-forum takes up too much valuable staff time, it's got to go'The non-hypothetical part:You spend most if not all of your time in the above forum, warring with words etc etc. You may (or may not) have written a few hubs....

It is really hard to know when, you post a Hub, whether the person, is male, female, or for that matter even a Human, just joking. By this I am trying to establish that although most of us are totally ordinary people using a Computer, with no ulterior motives.I know there are Hubs where I look at...

Dear all,I understand that there are some people out there who want to sing and dance about God, preaching his word.I also understand that there are people out there who are athiests and who want to disprove God on all accounts. That's freedom of speech, no one can take that away from you and it is...
