Dear Hubpages...
Seems ANOTHER of my "roundup" app comparisons got flagged "overly promotional", AND "pixelated/watermarked pix/video" to boot.
I don't get this "overly promo" flag, as all the links are to Appbrain, known Android software index. And yes, I looked AGAIN, I have NO link ANYWHERE to my own blog except the RSS feed. So what is triggering the "overly promo"?
Also, this pixellated/watermarked pix/video warning is also a bit iffy. I checked all the pix, and none of them are watermarked, so that leaves the videos. Most of them are reviews done by other Android websites, and they do watermark their videos, but only as a logo in the lower half. I can see one of them may be objectionable, but it's kinda hard to judge.
Can we get clarification messages like "Capsule X caused the WARNING" or something like that?

You have 50+ links to appbrain, but are only allowed two links to any one outside source such as that.
You have links to many other locations as well, but unless they are on the "undesirable" list from HP I don't see them as a problem.
As you have no other links to your blogsite, the RSS capsule should be OK unless you have linked to it in a large percentage of your other hubs. The same can be said for appbrain or any of the other links you've provided; if most of your hubs contain the same links it could be considered as overly promotional.
The obvious one, though, as 50 links to appbrain. You will have to get rid of at least 48 of them.
Not going to happen, as Appbrain is a recognized Android app index that was linking to apps even BEFORE Google's own Android Market. If Appbrain link is objectionable, then link to Google's own Android Market is also questionable.
In fact, I believe you said the exact same thing in my OTHER topic, and HP staff confirmed that was NOT the issue. (that turned out to be a miscount on my part, I thought RSS counts as 1, it counts as 1.5)
I think we're talking about two different things here. You may certainly link to appbrain, but only twice per hub. You have 50 links to that site.
I like that way of counting the RSS feed - it makes it pretty clear. But the possibility I mention isn't that you have a feed or even a feed plus a link - it is that you have the same feed or link on nearly every hub. I don't even know that to be true - I haven't checked many of your hubs - but I mention it as a possibility.
I think the idea is that if you are on HP only to provide backlinks to your blog site and do so on every hub, HP doesn't want you. I'm not saying that is what you're doing - you seem to write some good informative hubs - just trying to explain the concept of excessive promo by providing the same link on every hub.
Nope, on this thread HP staff specifically said the Appbrain link(s) was not the problem.
http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/78897#post1706689
One of my other hubs had 200+ links to Appbrain. So that wasn't the issue.
I don't know, kschang. That other thread doesn't give a link to the unpublished hub, so I can't see it.
Paul Deeds references the links to appbrain, but doesn't say how many there are. Jason references the link - I assume there was only one.
It this is not correct, then I'm at loss. I just know you can't have more than 2 links to any one outside site from any one hub. If I'm right and this is the problem the hub you have with 200 links is an "unpublished" just waiting to happen. HP is slowly checking the million plus hubs that are on the site but it takes considerable time and any particular hub could be in violation of the TOS for a considerable period (months or years maybe) before being found.
With your continuing problems maybe it would be in your best interest to start a blogger blog for these articles? Then you can link as much as you want. Put a link on you HubProfile to it.
Already have one. Have an RSS feed of it on the hubs.
How many Hubs does the RSS feed appear on? If it's a large percentage of your Hubs, that will trigger the OP filter.
The other possibility is that your blog has been wrongly classified. That happened to me: I got the OP warning on my belly dance Hubs and I only had one or two links in each, so I was bamboozled.
Turns out they had classified links to my own blog as "affiliate links", so my RSS feed (which appears on every Hub) was triggering the filter. They reviewed it and agreed it was a mistake, problem solved.
Resolved. HP team mistook the RSS capsule as a regular Link capsule and triple-counted the links.
It's annoying these mistakes are still happening. Glad you got it fixed.
Good! I guess mistakes can happen, but it is sure irritating, especially when you are already having trouble. Thanks for letting us know.
wilderness, some locations are whitelisted and dont fall under the 2 link rule.
For example, wikipedia
I believe OP was told in that thread that appbrain links were not an issue.
So 3 or 50, that would not be a problem (if appbrain was whitelisted)
I used to have problems writing about firefox and linking to the plugin directory, they fixed that.
Cant really do a useful "Top Ten" if your hamstrung from linking to authoritative sources
Good point - I hadn't thought of that. Appbrain could well be an "information" site or whatever they call it.

Feeling frustrated with all the moderation going on I fired this response on to the Team... what do you think they'll say?"I fixed the watermarked and pixelated pics [this is the second go around] - which one do you have a problem with now?FYI - all of these random rule changes effect us...

I find it hilarious that Hubpages pushes the concept of helping new Hubbers yet my Hub which has had very good reception by the community has been flagged for being both overly promotional and substandard.I had 5 social bookmarking links, and 2 other links to free tools absolutely related to the...

I'm new here at HUB and every one of my hubs has warnings and I've been told that I will be terminated soon because everything I post is substandard. I have read all the Terms. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong and since I'm "punished" and none of them can be viewed, I...

Hi,Let me just say first of all I love hubpages and have enjoyed my time here. This isn't a moan, I just need a clarification.I recently had a hub unpublished as it was "overly promotional" as I had included two links to a site I admit that I own and also an RSS feed to the same...

Whether I agree with HP's new policies or not, I respect the site's right to set their own rules. However, I think one of the reasons Hubbers are getting upset isthey're getting warnings based on rules they don't know existExamples:1. I have "overly promotional" warnings on several...

I used to like to bring the silly moderation messages to light, in order to hopefully get better explanations of the new rules that HP created throughout 2011.Eventually, the lack of definitions by HP just became irritating and I stopped and just left the account to fester. But, for 2012, I was...
