I believe Soundgarden and Pearl Jam delivered a really good Grunge sound, but Cobain definitely wrote better songs.

Nirvana was great, but I also love Boss Hog, and they weren't really apreciated until their got dummed down quite a bit.

I think there were a number of decent grunge bands/songs.

What's grungier than Smells Like Teen Spirit,
Lithium, Man in the Box, Creep (Radiohead), Even Flow.. the 90's!

    But nothing tops Nevermind.

Many members of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam etc. were once part of Mother Love Bone.

The Temple of the Dog album was written as a tribute to a member of MLB that passed away.  Andrew Wood

I didn't know that. I've heard the name, I'll check them out. Grunge is still some of my favorite music. Great driving/singing tunes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAqZb52sgpU&ob=av2e

Hard to define Mother Love Bone as grunge because they were pretty well produced. But Green River had not just Stone and Jeff, but Mark Arm also.

Actually he is old school but my favorite Grunge artist has to be Neil Young wink

Yeah, Neil was definitely the godfather of grunge. I think this was proven when Nirvana did MTVunplugged and Kurdt was clearly trying to emulate Neil. Having seen both perform live several times I think my opinion is a legitimate one.
