Are BDSM practices ethical? Should these kinds of activities be considered as sin in the eyes of the Church? Should the Church ban BDSM practices?
What Christian teaching does BDSM contradict?
It seems to me that if you seriously thought it sinful you wouldn't have posted the latex babe.
I don't know if it's sinful... it seems a bit unethical to me! Is it sinful really... what do the Preachers say?
Okay, so what ethical principle does it conflict with? But if you mean non-religious-based ethics this isn't really the right sub-forum.
"Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas--
Everybody's looking for something.
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused."
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)
GR8 song knolyourself. "BEATS" me , lol. I can see how this could be considered a sin but I'm the wrong one to be answering this anyway. I just caught the song that was posted and really like it
On what basis would it be a sin, I don't get it.
Some wants to be tied up, so you tie them up, later you let them go.
or
Someone wants to be spanked, so you spank them, a good time is had by all.
Quirky, perhaps, but where's the sin--assuming the consenting parties are married etc etc.
People have feelings internal to themselves, which are not always understood. One may act on those feelings in conjunction and the consent of others. The basis of it being sin is external, as models for the way people are suppose to feel. If you do not correspond your feelings to that model you are sinful.
BDSM is not based on Christian Egalitarianism... in that way it could / should be treated as irreligious and hence sin, but does Christianity consider it as sinful act?
The sexual or lifestyle dominance and submission do not actually change the moral worth or rights of either person. Nothing is done to a person against their will.
From what I see BDSM is a lot more egalitarian than a lot of traditional Christian marriages where the man is 'head of household' and the woman 'obeys'--hell, until recently many first world countries didn't give a married woman the legal right to refuse to have sex.
I would guess that a typical BDSM practitioner is probably more aware of and observant of egalitarianism than a typical Christianity practitioner.
That's a wise argument... really! Is it approved by Church?
There is more than one "church" out there and most are not interested in making rules as to which fetishes are okay or not.
I tend to assume that if it doesn't involve committing a sin, it is okay. And no one here has managed to come up with what is sinful in BDSM.
"Is it approved by Church?" The church is external authority. They do not approve of natural internal feelings, as they are not considered ass perfect. Priests are disallowed sex, except apparently predatory sex.

Are we born with original sin? I do not think so. Correct me if I am wrong. We have the Council of Nicea. We have Augustine and we have Paul. Some claim Adam and Eve sealed the sin deal for every wonderful beautiful baby born. If you wanted to you could show some interesting notions regarding...

There are a gazillion misconceptions floating around the HP clan of Christians about the beliefs and practices of Catholicism. Who told you what you know? What makes you think it's true? Wanna ask questions of someone who practices her faith within the denomination and not get answers from an...
