Mr. Hutchinson, you are clearly very bored today! Go play $20 at the Seminole Hard Rock. I won $97 last time I put $20 in the machine! Just limit yourself to $20. If you don't win, head home so you don't become addicted. big_smile

I have to stay away from there.. because I have an addictive personality. Not to mention all the smoke really bothers me.

Ive been away from HP for a few days working on a few things (I tend to over extend myself) and came back and looked at the forum topics and was like, "pass... pass...pass.. oh whats this? *open* ..crap..passs...pass..." you get the idea.

You should never let the political and religious forums prevent you from associating with the rest of the members. There are plenty of people who choose not to enter the political and religious forums, for whatever reasons, but it should never stop you from posting to the forums in general.

Kinda like you have in this thread. smile big_smile

Will the notepads and kindles be the end of the printed book?

If so will civilization lose much of its knowledge if the systems supporting these consoles crashes?

Funny you should ask.. according to Nasa the system could crash later this year due to sun flares.

If all Floridians were to eat a bowl of my cream of asparagus today, the system could crash in less than 24 hours! The sun's flares won't have anything to do with it! roll

Mathematicians have formulated the probability of there being life out there, and have reached the conclusion that there should be millions of planets in our galaxy alone, where there is intelligent life.  I imagine creatures at this moment on one of those planets looking up to the heavens and wondering if there is life out there.  They may see our Sun as a distant star and have no evidence that there are any planets which orbit it.  What a shame that the human species will not be around long enough to develop the ability to find whoever is out there, and they will never know of us.

Mathematicians? Who needed them to figure out anything with regards to other worldly life forms existing elsewhere. lol
              Sarcasm?
Possible and then again, it's also possible that they know we exist, yet we do not know they exist, but choose not to appear to us. lol
Pessimistic, a little are you. lol

I tend to side with Cags.. iI think it's very possible they know of us but we are like ants to them and don't offer much except maybe entertainment watching us run around destroying the very thing we stand on (literally). Or... maybe they are only a few years away from discovering us and will be so super excited to meet us! I'm sure they will want me to be the leader of this species.. I will accept.

No, not pessimistic.  I saw a telly programme the other night, in which it stated that even if we could travel at the speed of light, it would take thousands of years to get to the nearest planet where life exists, because the distances are unimaginable.  As every species is finite, even considering the fact that humans are a new species, the time needed would make it impossible.  And considering that space exploration is so slow.  I mean it is 42 years since man first set foot on the moon, I would have thought we would have been further along in the space programme by now.

No, I wouldn't be surprised to find out humans were elsewhere in the universe.  Nobody knows for sure.  It makes sense.   I would only consider them aliens if they looked entirely different with non-human DNA.

Never. I do not even have those kindles but I read something all the time (and not just ads in a newspaper or labels in a grocery store). A well printed and illustrated book with content that carries you away is a treasure. Sometime at night I suddenly wake up because a heavy book I was reading fell on my nose... that gives me a signal - time to sleep! smile
