Having read Melbel's recent thread about the SubDomains, I felt urged to ask this..
So from what I'm reading about these subdomains, correct me if im wrong, is that the purpose to benefit your good content and help it rank even higher while your not-so good content only ranks even lower and gets even less traffic.
Now I write a lot of movie reviews, it's mostly bad movies that I review, and we all know there's plenty of people doing movie reviews on every corner of the web. So I guess by me switching to the subdomain here on HP, I'm assuming these reviews will fall into 'not-so unique' content and rank even lower since I'm not the only one online writing about them? I'm not saying my reviews are low quality, but I'm asking this out of the fact that it's a widely engaged writing topic by many others.
And I'm doing fairly well with them right now, I'm getting a few ad clicks with adsense and i'm getting way more clicks with Hubpages ad program. I know you might say well why don't you write something else? Because picking apart the really bad movies is just so fun to me, so its something I take pleasure in.
In this respect, would it be wise for me to move the subdomain?
Hi, as I read it everyone here will be switched to the
sub-domain type of account by a certain date (see the announcement post by HubPages for more info on this) I am sorry that I cannot remember what the date is.
I just went for the idea and switched over straight away as it was going to happen anyway, my views for my hubs have gone up since. There are threads in the forums on the effect it is having but the general idea seems to be it will take a while to know if it has benefited you or not long term.
I think with sub-domains what is meant to happens is that the traffic to your hubs is less likely to be affected by poorly written hubs that 'get through the various safe guards' and hinder the rating of this site.
I may have misunderstood how it works, someone please point this out if I am wrong as I am always willing to learn from others with more knowledge on a subject, thanks. I hope this helps the OP.
my traffic's dropped even further with the change to subdomain.
When did you switch to Subdomain? After I switched, I had a few days of really low traffic, but then it bounced back and has steadily gone up since then.
Bailey, all your hubs need to be re-indexed into Google and other search engines. The new sub-domain will be indexed, like they are new. So you should see a jump upward in traffic, but might level off, if not supported by promoting and backlinking to other sites.
I lost some of my traffic for a few days, but then saw my traffic return. Just give it some time.
Hi Baileybear, sorry that has happend.
Maybe after the freefall I had, seeing the red arrows and the daily views go up is encouraging, but mine is still not what it use to be.
I now spend most of my writing time on my own blogs and site, but I have not given up here - as who knows.
Hi Spomp - It is sad how bad movies are these days isn't it, I mean some are just horrible, I think I'm gonna move toward writing more movie reviews.
Anyway - I have noticed that my traffic is on the uptick and I don't know why, I have several double red up arrows

Do you read movie reviews before watching a movie?

I've been on HubPages for 5 years now. I have 155 articles. My content is featured 95% of the time, but I'm only making pennies a day; like between $0.03 and $0.10. It took me four years to get my first $50 payment. Google Adsense is activated as are HubPages ads. What am I doing wrong? Any...

I was looking through my early hubs that are all featured, but I feel I can improve them now that I have gained more knowledge regarding good content and presentation. I am worried that doing this might have detrimental effects regarding: remaining featured, hub-scores, and search engines...

Hi everyone, thanks for checking out this forum post. As the title suggests, I'd like to ask you all how your traffic situation is right now, post-Panda. I got a dreadful hit (a decrease of 50%) last week from Panda but now my traffic is rising again. How's yours? Is it still doom and gloom or is...
