I tried to set up a hub when I first signed up but it became very confusing.  I need some help but didn't get it.  I want to write but am not sure what.  I have my  own ideas but it seemed that I had to choose from a group of ideas that had nothing to do with me and what I know.

As far as making money with  my hub, I really got lost there.  How in the world do you do that?  If there is someone who can put it in plain English, I would really appreciate help - all I can get.  Thanks!

Don't worry too much about the hi-tech stuff ie capsules etc, just yet. Just pretend you are having a conversation with someone in your living room about a topic, let it flow, and put it into words.
Trying too hard will numb the writing process.

Thanks, that makes a ton of sense.  I like to write in that style about things going on now.  Does that sound like something that might work?

I highly recomend that you visit the HubPages learning center right away. It has step by step information to help you get started with writing YOUR OWN IDEAS, how to set-up ads, and much more.
Here is a direct link to the HP learning center:

      Good Luck and Welcome! lol

Hi just a few pointers that might help you to get started -

by the way once you start to write hubs it is easier to put them together and publish them than it looks at first. smile

For information you have two places provided by HubPages to read (do n't try and understand it all at once just read the bits that relate to what you are doing).

First at the top of the page is a help button when you click on that it takes you to FAQ (frequently asked questions) - the basic info there is really useful.

Secondly at the bottom of this page is a link to the Learning Centre - lots of info there including videos.

You will find that apart from a few 'banned' topics you write and put together hubs on almost any topic.

Hope this helps, when you want more info there are Hubbers who write good hubs on how to Hub, not me though, well I think I write good hubs but not on that topic smile

Thanks for the help.  I'll use it.  I want to start a hub and begin writing on something like just how life is for a 65 year old woman alone.  Does that sound like a topic that would be interesting to anybody?

It's great to write from personal experience. As opposed to research but that's good too. for example, People would rater read a hub on depression by a depressed person or formerly depressed person than some counselor , I write about that from experience, though at times a textbook hub on it can be very helpful too.

people share all kinds of info on hubpages. we're one big happy family -i think- lol lol

seriously, you can write about that and people will relate. Alot of hubs about hubs help too with your tech questions. Main thing is write and post. Later you can add pictures etc.  And you will gradually learn all that.

Keywords are the top issue here on hubpages. Google the Keyword tool and you will find you can put your finished hub address in there and it will show you the best keywords to use.

Again, alot of this is in hubs by me and others who write hubs on how to write hubs. Just look under search at the top of page and type in "hub writing" or hub tips.

      Thanks schoolgirlforreal,
I plan to write from my own experience.  However, I am a counselor and I do have 1st hand knowledge of depression so I can write a lot from my own experiences, and I have 65 years of them.  Thanks for the help.  It really helps!!!
