Hi, would you get more traffic to your hubs if you participate in forum discussion.  I have seen traffic increase since a started to discuss things on forums and also getting followers in my hubs.  What do you think.  Thanks.

It's true that you can increase your traffic if you use the forums alot. But not my a huge amount. And what you really need to be getting traffic is from Google, where you make the real money.

      Hubbers aren't clickers.

Hubbers are not clickers, and that is true - but the thing is that hubbers are "sharers," and so getting traffic from Hubpages forums winds up getting you a lot of traffic from facebook and twitter!  Eventually, you'll see your hubs getting mailed to people, and put on off site forums. . . .because you participated in THIS forum.

This is how I got noticed in the first place. No one knew I existed until I poarticipated. I've had some people share some of my hubs on their facebook page. I've shared some otherpeople's hubs  with my followers and other sites.

I just hate the negativity - there is just no telling how or where your hub's might turn up.  I've had hubs getting hundreds of hits on forums that I've never even heard of.  I stay positive about this Hubpages and Info Barrel game that I play - Write it and they will come!  (you just have to stay active and friendly, I think)

Hi Princess g thanks for your kind response and advice.  I am currently working on to publish up to 100 hubs, once this is done I will be looking into promoting my hubs through google and other search engines.  Thanks.

Yes, like I said, I think that's the best way to get followers.

However followers are just nice for the ego - they have very little impact on earnings. It's true some of them will share your Hubs elsewhere, but no more so than other readers.

The proof of the pudding is that most Hubbers find they don't start earning decent income until over 85% of their traffic is coming from the search engines.

So don't think of these forums as a place to self-promote, it's not worth it. Instead, join in for fun, a bit of light relief from the hard work of writing, and a chance to learn from others and share what you've learned.

Yes. I have definitely acquired both fans and traffic as a result of participating here in the forums. I may have lost a couple of fans as well, but you cant please everybody.

Surely forum brought you more hubbers and they if like your hub will share it with others and resulting in traffic increase.

I'll tell you how I've got a lot of the followers that I have - not so much from the forums ( I tend to get banned from the forums sometimes. . . in the politics or philosophy sections I can be sort of brutal) . . .I hang out in the Q and A section, and answer as many questions as I can.

Answering questions on Hubpages will get you lots of followers.

I almost never ask or answer questions.  I rarely comment on Hubs either.

The vast majority of my followers come from interaction in the forums.  And I very rarely stray from the Hub-related threads on the forums, either.  But before you get too impressed with the number of followers, bear in mind I've been here 3 years!
