Novel Vs sort story

   I do like to read short story than a novel. But if I got a good novel or a novel of a famous writer then I read that. What you prefer among them.

   As long as the text and writing is good, I'll prefer to read it. Generally speaking, I prefer novel as it is in great depth and explores various levels of creativity. But so does well-written short-stories.

   I write short stories and novels. My shorts are free. My novel just came out this month, and I'm selling it for 99 cents.

   As for whether I prefer shorts or novels, since I do most of my reading via listening to audio books, I usually get exposed to novels. But when I read, I enjoy picking up a good short story.
   
   One note to make is that short stories are in some ways different creatures than novels. Because they aren't designed to go on for long, you have to make each moment of the story count, while in a novel you're given liberties to meander with narrative. And that is what makes short stories harder to write, but at the same time very rewarding.

   I prefer a novel to a short story if I have a choice. Novels are more in depth. They give a greater insight into their characters because there's no limit to the length. I especially love series. My all time favorite set of books is Stephen King's 'Dark Tower' series. It's some of the most intense and in-depth story-telling that I've ever seen. I enjoy reading them over and over. It's King's masterpiece in my opinion.
   I'll read short stories as well, though. In the fast-paced world that we live in, a quick entertaining story can really change the mood of an entire day for me.

   I must say that the novel is by far my favorite. I admit that it can be uneventful if you happened to get knee-deep in a novel only to be completely and utterly disappointed. You are then left with an empty feeling and you will never get the hours back of your life that you spent reading said book. With that said, a novel can be so extravagantly detailed and polished. A novel takes so much more of your time to involve your mind and focus on the story at hand. I'm very detail oriented which is why I prefer writing longer novels because it lets me completely flesh out the characters that I've created and the world they are living in. The definite setback about novels is the extensive time it can take to write one and the much longer required reading time, but all-in-all I have to be true to be preference of novels.

   Definitely a full-length novel. I like nice fat ones of 500+ pages best even though I have little time to read these days.
   
   Short stories leave me unsatisfied on the whole, although they are fine when produced by a master of the art, such as Somerset Maugham.

    Novels would have to be my favorite because the author has a lot more time to develop the characters and plot.  Still, I keep a collection of short stories on my smartphone (kindle app) so that I can take advantage of those multitude of "down periods" and read one or two.  Short stories are definitely a different form that has of late peaked my interest.  I think I would like to try my hand at a few.

    It all depends on the story. Some stories can be told short, some long, some really long. If the story is good and can be told in one sentence, then that is enough for me. If the story requires a library, then it requires a library. With me, it's the story that counts not the length. Shorts stories, novellas, novels? Just let the story be entertaining and be about something good.
