The next big political kerfuffle - GOP vs. GOP vs. Dem vs. Dem

The current temporary payroll tax decrease for workers expires Jan 1. Obama wants it extended and most in the GOP don't. This puts the GOP in an awkward position, given the stated policy of not increasing any taxes.

Romney wants to let it expire and then cut just the employers contribution - to create jobs. Newt wants it extended.

The Dems are also in a bind because this cash cow funds Soc. Sec. and extending it will weaken the fund. Fiscal reality is on a collision course with party rhetoric.

It's a tough call - keep the cut, or not?

If the Soc. Sec. "entitlement" level is trimmed, and a simultaneous increase contributions is sought - won't that would be a tough sell?

It hasn't done much to help the unemployment rate up to now. I'd like to see social security eliminated all together, but politically these people kack the courage to do what's right so if you're going to keep the cut, you're going to have to modify the program or it's going to go bust sooner.

Bet you will change your mind when you reach retirement age.

I doubt that! Look how well the government has managed the program. I doubt it will be in existence by time I retire and worse all the money they took from me and my employer, neither one of us will ever get it back! I'd rather manage my own money, I'm quite sure I'll make better decisions than the government did!

Getting by on 5 cents per post may be a challenge.

Thats another nickel! Lol! Really some people are just so easily led and totally clueless with no ability to think for themselves. If posting here is a marketing plan then I'd starve to death!
