What do you think about links to hub from blog posts?

   Do you spend time linking from blogs to your hubs?
   
   Does this work to bring in traffic?
   
   Will this potentially help with SEO?
   
   Does it work / not work for you if you've tried it?
   
   Seems to me like a relatively easy way to get relevant links to your subdomain from specific sites and to you hubs but maybe i'm missing something?
   
   Would be nice to get some other's opinions

      I don't know how much it works, but I do it. On a more interesting note, I have been paid to link from my blog to other websites. If the website was quality I linked and cashed a check (PayPal deposit actually.)

   Isn't this exactly what we call "backlinking"  and it is not only a good thing, but rather necessary if you want to get more traffic ?  or am I all wrong? ?

   When I'm writing a post on my blog I will occasionally link to my hubs if I think its relevant.  I like to make sure the links seem natural though.
   
   You can usually tell when someone is writing a post with the sole intent of building a back link because the link doesn't seem to flow well with article. 
   
   It does work to drive traffic because my blog is not far behind Google in the list of traffic sources to my hubs.

   I also put a text link on my writing blog to some hubs here. So i also have the HP widget on my blog; does that constitute a backlinking issue?

      I had the widget thing and then took it off.  Because in amongst the opaque misleading and obtuse statements from the gurus (infants?) of Google - it seemed to imply that links to a bad website were possibly bad.  Or was it from?  And was HP bad at the time?
      
      tbh - who knows - because the whole thing is covered in a layer of secrecy and absurdity, and incompetence.
      
      What should I do?
      
      Don't know - because... no one knows.
      
      Just please don't let me tweet Matt Cutts today because I can't be held responsible....

         As far as actual SEO value, some blogs "dofollow" the links in comments and some do not.  However, often "dofollow" blogs are often over-run with spammers in the comments section.  I'd avoid those, as links from pages like that can reflect badly on you.
         
         This is not to say you should never leave your website in the "site" field while commenting on someone else's blog.  Just make sure you are leaving a relevant, substantial comment.  Even if it's a "nofollow" blog, you might get some readers who see you've got something interesting to say and click through to your site to see if you've got other equally valuable insights.

   I am getting 'two way traffic' between my blogs/sites and HubPages through adding links there and links in my profile here.
   
   But I have not yet tried putting links into comments on other peoples blogs.
   
   I think I get traffic here through links on RedGage although they do not show up as such in my stats.

   I personally don't have a blog- therefore I started this forum post with the intention of questioning if using other's blogs for comments links would be a step forward.
   
   I have recently started to put some substantial and relevant comments into posts on blogs relevant to the hubs i've written. I started this practice at a very low level about a month ago and have seen mixed results so far
   
   One post to a cycling related blog has so far bought myself 20+ additional hub views within a 30 day period which is the most success i've had so far with this technique.
   
   Has this worked for anyone else?
