    Hey y'all!
I'm looking for short scary stories to feature in this October's Fascinating Fiction podcasts- either to be read by myself or (ideally) by the author.  They need to be fictional, relatively short (in just one Hub, especially), be free of grammatical mistakes and typos, and be free of pixelated or illegally used images.  Do you have any suggestions for me? I'd love to see them!

Wow, I don't know. But you inspired me to write one. I will have it finished tomorrow and will send you an email. It currently is 1,321 words. I try to keep mine at least 2,000 words. Is that too long?

Oh, goody! Thanks Hyphenbird!!! I don't think that'll be too long. I'm really looking forward to this!

Okay. Here is the link to my scary story. I am kind of like Alfred Hitchcock, the buildup is the fingernail biting part. I hope you like it.

This story also reads like a Twlight Zone episode crossed paths with Alfred Hitchcock Presents.  I wish I could think it would never happen in real life, but well, there is a black market and people do get desperate. It's the relationship of the people that creates the bizarre aspect.

Here's a story I posted recently - not really sure if it truly is scary - but the situation is a little scary until the end *grin*

I think the hubber, Lesleysherwood did one. I haven't read any other. I was thinking of writing a Halloween story but not sure how to gauge my imagination for HP. I tend to get too much into my stories and might get into trouble.

I'll have to poke around Lesleysherwood's Hubs then. Thanks for the recommendation! And hey, you should totally write one! Scary stories are dreadfully fun.

Well I wrote one about a how to change a light fixture - does that count?  Just think of all those wires hanging down, just waiting to BITE you! smile

Best I can offer is a (supposedly) funny hub obout a first camping trip.  Based on a true story, it is somewhat embellished and thereby fictional.

If it's not what you are looking for (and it doesn't really sound like it is to me), that's OK.  I haven't written either scary hubs or fictional stories.

Oh, changing light fixtures can be scary indeed! And I'll have to have a look at this camping Hub- whether it's perfect for FF or not, I'm a big fan of outdoorsy stories, especially embellished ones!

I wrote one on ghosthunting...  not really scary (unless you count the fact that it is essentially a true story and that both of us are responsible for raising children)

Well, I've bee thinking about having a Hub-loween Horror Story challenge similar to one I proposed for Christmas tales, so perhaps it might work well for your purposes.  I think fiction writers here deserve some exposure here occasionally, even if we make neither us or HP much money on the tales.  smile

I certainly hope you are correct, Simone.  Yesterday was among my worst days ever for earnings on HP.  Nowhere to go but up! I would enjoy doing a little creative work for a change, even with my awkward writing style.  smile
