To increase the hub scores ....it seems that there are really some less than genuine forum posts in most topics? For instance ...9/11 conspiracies. Or the whole religion -atheists debate.
To me, the less-than-genuine posts are the ones that ask what your favourite movie is or what your favourite colour is
Posting to the forums is part and parcel of one's activity on HP, which HP measures. It's not solely about Hubscore(or should I say "hubberscores" or "authorscores").
The forums are a community tool for discussion, either for ideas for writing hubs or debates on topics. Many people use the forum as though it's a game, which part of it actually is...thus why HP created the Sandpit threads.
Many people come to HP thinking it's a social networking site, which last time I checked it wasn't, but they used it as such. Massive followings, creating tons of questions, reading hubs but leaving one or two word comments.
There are too many people who attempt to game HP, all the while, never realizing what HP is about or can be used for.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I tend to see a lot of the politics and religion "debates" as discussions people who enjoy a "fight" or have an agenda go to. I see stuff like "favorite movie" as (maybe) posted by people who like a discussion - but not a fight/debate. I don't really question stuff like 911-conspiracy because I think conspiracy theories are commonly thought of as conversation topics. The stuff that strikes me as an attempt to pick up followers (or maybe increase score) is more like meaningless comments that add nothing to a "serious seeming" conversation that a bunch of others are already having. Or, there's the person who has been on HP for a day and a a half and comes on here and says what s/he "does" with her Hubs (or else gives tips on what people should be doing).
I don't know about anybody else, but I know that if I come here too often in a short time that's when my score goes is its lowest. Within the last several days I was on here because I had lots of spare time. I came on here, answered questioned, and thought I'd browse through the feed to "see what there was". I made a few comments here or there - nothing big. Honestly - all I was doing was finding some "little entertainment" for myself. My score went to a low I haven't seen in - like- 3 years. I figured it was one of three things: 1) either the system thought I was doing something I shouldn't have been doing, 2) the system (or HP) doesn't "want" one person showing up too often in too many places, or 3) commenting and discussing so much made me people "hate" me and go vote down a bunch of my Hubs. It wasn't just this recent stretch of having time to kill, though. I've seen for ages now that my Hubscore tends to be highest when I stay away from the forums. (I've often joked that HP is sending me a message that I'll be rewarded if I stay the heck away from "the community" .)
There are only two reasons I come here. One is that I leave a window up and pop on and off over the course of day (usually looking for something to break up some monotony of work here or there). (So I'm on here a lot. I can see why the system, or anyone else, including myself, would get sick of me ). The other is that I've found I do often get ideas/inspiration for something to write about (if not on here, then somewhere).
Either way, I have no doubt that these forums are frequently used for "questionable" reasons, but I think attempts to increase Hubscore are kind of the least questionable among them.

There are some troubled men who regularly use forums, and they have not a single hub in their profiles. How come? How is it allowed? I do not get it--- Is HubPages a chat-website?

I guess the title says it all- I have a few published hubs and a few in the workds that I believe are well written and interesting to read, but I can't see many people finding them through google, what are some other good ways besides spaming links to promote it?This one of the hubs I was talking...

Recently I'm noticing new members who have no hubs, no activity where they read or comment on hubs, and only join to participate in self interest and/or bleeding heart questions in various forums. Sort of using HP as a chatroom. Before anyone attacks me for this, please know I enjoy the discussion...
