I was approved as well.  When will our new accounts start showing clicks/earnings?

My EPN account is still showing clicks this morning from my own Hubpages eBay account.

My application is pending. I hope the fact that I had applied before and was turned down doesn't affect this application.

Got the air cast taken away yesterday and they put on a fiberglass cast for 4 weeks, then it is back to the air cast.  It is so much more comfortable. Thanks for asking smile  Feels way better than it did a few days ago.

I got my acceptance this morning!  I have been crazy busy the past 2 weeks, so have not been able to keep ahead of all of this.  Questions...

Do I need to go in and make changes to the eBay capsules I have in my hubs or does this automatically adjust?

Are they "different" capsules or the same ones we have applied previously, just with improved size and earnings?

Thanks for any enlightenment you are willing to share!  God Bless!

There is no need to make changes if you already have eBay capsules in your Hubs. They are the same capsules as before.

Hi everybody, Although I write here on Hubpages, I don't know all the rules.  I was just accepted for an eBay account.  I just wrote a cookbook and want to know if it is permitted to sell my cookbook, through my recipe hubpages, through eBay?

    Thanks.

I don't see why you could not write a hub pushing that cookbook, put in a capsule limiting it to yourself as seller, and publish.  eBay might not agree with that, though.

It won't do much good, though - until the hub is several months old it won't get many organic visitors and they are the ones that might buy.  To publish before selling will make the hub look very strange, while after the sale the hub won't be worth anything.

Unless you are planning on selling dozens or hundreds of copies and not just one?  In that case it might work, but will still take months to be effective.

I don't get how this program works.  Do we have to set up ads manually or does eBay automatically ad them?

          You should check out the learning center for more detailed info on ebay sales, but it generally works like this;

ebay does not place ads that you earn from - instead, you become an ebay affiliate, which means you write stuff that would encourage your readers to click on an ebay listing YOU place in your hub - using the ebay capsule.

If someone clicks an ebay listing on your hub - you MAY earn some money.

I say MAY because ebay's affiliate system is based on QUALITY clicks, ie. clicks that make ebay money, (like when they buy something), not just clicks that sends someone to ebay.

ebay assigns a QCV - (quality click value) to your click activity based on how much money the traffic you send makes ebay.

for example: your QCV could be as low as 1 cent, (in which case ebay will probably boot you for low value traffic), or much higher, like $1.20. Although a typical QCV for an average Joe is probably in the 12 to 40 cent range.

Also your QVC will fluctuate all month, it is not a static number.

at the end of the month they multiply the number of clicks you sent to ebay times your QCV. ie. 1854 clicks times .19 QCV = $352.26 payday.

So you see it is not ebay ads that make money for you -it's your salesmanship that sends people that are ready to buy to ebay.

          Hope that helps.

ps.. it IS IMPORTANT to only send "ready to buy" clicks to ebay because every lookie-lou click you send can lower your QCV - reducing your payout

@wilderness - not intending to pick on your advice, but...

while it is generally true that any Net writing improves in SERPS with age, because age is an algo factor - it is a myth that writings MUST age before they will be found. Age is only one algo factor. quality, (value to the searcher) - keywords - SEO and relevance, are all more important factors than age.

for example: witness the immediate traffic surge any Net writing using today's "hot button topic" keywords for a title will get, even though that traffic will probably vanish in a day or two.

On the other hand, if a writing is total garbage no amount of aging is going to help it rank.

Of course, that's just my opinion, but it jars me a little whenever I see the "it must age" adage passed along as gospel.

Another idea would be to publish the book as an e-book on Amazon. Then you could feature the book in Amazon capsules on your hubs.

While I use eBay to buy many things, I would be more inclined to respond to an Amazon hub where books are concerned.

I have tried to sign up for this programme. However, unlike previous reports, I have not had requests for any telephone verification.

    Is something wrong?

It is very stressful to be told an application is pending with no further details!

    1. Fawntia profile imageSTAFF
Fawntiaposted 12 years agoin reply to this

It must be that you verified your phone number at some other time, prior to applying to eBay. In any case, I see that you have verified a phone number and that your application was successful. So, nothing is wrong! You will most likely see an acceptance email in the near future.

Ah, thank you, that is good to know.

I verified a phone number when I set up security stuff on HP. I thought though that everyone had to do that already.

Hi WriteAngled, Thank you very much for your comment.  I think that's a great idea about putting my cookbook as an ebook on Amazon, and putting the capsule on my recipe hubpages.

When I signed up for the eBay program, I didn't get the telephone call right away either.  Then all of a sudden, I got it one day.

I've just finished admiring ebay's 4 sign-up contracts, never even mind the FAQ's. Such is the way of the world. No worse than adsense, amazon, HP, etc. This world is getting too darned complicated!!! smile

How is the earning for eay caluclated? based on the cliks or sales?

    1. Appletreedeals profile image66
Appletreedealsposted 12 years agoin reply to this

both - but the sales you generate determine the click value.

the lowest realistic click value is .04 (4 cents), because if your traffic generates click values lower than that there is a good chance ePn will boot you for not sending them quality traffic.

although technically your click value could be multiple dollars per click, from what I've heard from other ePn affiliates, typical vales range between .14 and .40(cents)

Not sure how this goes but I see it pretty unrealistic that my hits all around are about the same each day but had 3 ebay hits first day with payoff and one hit second day and now next 2 days zero, if I get a zero answer from ebay tomorrow again I will take all my capsules out, just does not seem like a fair trade. Who is to say if you get a hit or not?

    1. Glenn Stok profile image96
Glenn Stokposted 12 years agoin reply to this

kirsib - I wouldn't give up and pull out your eBay capsules just because you were lucky the first day and then had zero a few days. Since you just started adding eBay capsules, give it time and keep doing what you are doing. The numbers will grow. Same with any advertising.
