Hello,
This is my first Hub and I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thank you!
I think you're off to a great start Tobias. You write well. It could be longer, but I don't really have anything more to add to what the others have said. Actually, I need a lot of work on my hubs and I am taking their advise to heart. Welcome to hubpages.
It's a bit short, but it's a good start. First and foremost, you need to proofread it again and fix all the possessive nouns that need apostrophes, their absence detracts from the otherwise very credible critical voice you have going in the piece.
In filling in the length, ask yourself what is the point of your hub? The title doesn't tell what the purpose is. "Horror, Contemporary Criticism." What does that mean? How does it affect me, as a reader, as a fan or student or writer of genre?
When you write on HP, you have to put yourself in the place of your reader and ask, "Why would I want to read this?" The title here doesn't answer that question. You can't just write well, which you clearly do--proofreading aside-- you have to think like a salesman (not a slimy one, but an honest one providing a service or insight into something). You're really making a connection between Lovecraft and King, which is very interesting, so figure out what it means to the state of modern literature or modern genre, and shape the filling out of the article to explain to us, the readers of the world, what has changed, what has been put at risk, enabled, activated, by the progression of writing that is described by the evolution embodied in your narrative.
Hope this helps. Keep writing. HP needs people like you.
I noticed a lot of potential in you as a writer. You have a way with words which many people don't. I honestly believe you could be a great asset to hub pages.
These are my questions, these are the same anyone reading your article would want answered.
What is it you are trying to tell me with your hub? I don't see a point. Where is your personal point of view? I didn't see that either. Who are you writing to? Who is your audience? Are you writing at a level they can understand? I consider myself well educated, enough to mentor college students, and I had trouble making sense of your article.
I often have a nine year old read my articles and if she doesn't understand I edit until she does. Most people read at an eighth grade level. The little one here really is "smarter than the fifth grader" she is.
Learn to answer this question from your audience's point of view. Why should I read this article? Write to a level they can easily understand, and you will do really well here.
I definitely see where you are coming from. Thank you very much for your comments.

Is there a reason why hubbers do not accept constructive criticism and/or corrections? Am I the only grown-up on this site who takes corrections as a means of making my hubs better and myself informed? I, not wanting to let a hubber I started to follow look like a fool, decided to correct this...

Today I posted a comment on a hub that confused me. I'm curious if I'm in the wrong here. I was confused by a section of the hub and I said:Why does it say "We sent New York journalist Sam Merrill (whose previous "Playboy Interviews" have included those with Ed Asner, Roy...
