Extreme Couponing

   Are you into extreme couponing? and if so, what are some of your methods/advice that you might have on how to embark on such a journey?

      I seem to always get stuck in a queue at the supermarket behind someone who has thousands of coupons, and find it really frustrating.

   No offense but Get Over It! I'm digging a little deep here but maybe people need to learn some patience and tolerance. Why are you any better than the single mother or busy working mother in front of you who needs to save money to raise her children? They deserve to be in the store just as you, why would you be against someone saving money? Especially in this crap economy?!
   
   Sorry, got off task there but I get two of the major newspapers with coupons every week, I find them in magazines, of course you can look online but be careful I got a virus from a coupon downloader (I'm sorry I can't remember what site it was, that was several years ago now), go to the site of specific products and become a member they'll send you coupons sometimes daily but typically weekly, email or write to a company praising their products they'll almost always send coupons!

   I have watched a couple of episodes of "Extreme Couponing" and I realize they are making a tv show, but do these people really always spend 8 hrs in the store at one time?  The ones I've seen have 3-4 baskets and spend 8 hrs in the store racking up hundreds of dollars and leave there spending under $10 usually. 
   
   I think it's fantastic, but I would think it would be easier on everyone (themselves, the store clerks, other customers) if they didn't go so extreme on each visit.   Like I said...maybe it isn't always this way.  Maybe it's just for the tv show episode.

      There's quite a lot on the Web about the practice and the show. Most sources say the show sets up these extreme situations (like 19 carts full of stuff at checkout) 'cause it's good entertainment, and almost no one in real life is that crazy!

         You are correct.  The show arranges these trips beforehand.  Meaning that a lot of the stores policies are suspended for these trips.  A lot of stores limit the number of coupons you can use, and the amoutn of coupons they double (if the stores doubles at all).  There was an episode a couple of weeks ago about a college aged kid, Tyler I think.  His trip was the most true to life trip that I have seen on the show.  Usually I save 30-60% on my grocery trips, but can manage to save up to 90% when making smaller trips.  I love couponing and plan on writing more articles about it in the near future.  Feel free to follow me if you like, and thanks to Sally's Trove for the shout out!

   I am an extreme couponer and am one of those people who need a lot of time after a grocery store cashier rings up all of my purchases to provide the cashier my coupons. It saves me lots of money, and yes, people do get mad - but in my opinion, they can switch to another cashier.
   
   My recommendation to SAVE MONEY: (1) Go through the flier, (2) circle all of the sale items, (3) write your grocery list ahead of time, and (4) have your coupons prepared in an envelope or something similar.
