I'm sick and tired of it, although it is giving its promised results. I threw out a mess of over-sized clothing that I don't ever have to wear again, so that's good, and the bloating and gastric discomfort are gone, but I REALLY WANT a chicken-fried-steak-with-gravy breakfast followed by a piece of apple pie. BIG piece of pie.

    How are you doing?

Hey Sally, glad to hear that you are doing well with it and getting results you like. However, I'd still suggest you have your one meal and leave it at that. lol

As for me, I've never heard of this "Eat to Live Plan"? Then again, there's a good reason, I've no need to lose any more weight as it stands. lol

Lucky you!...from the perspective of someone who does need to lose weight.

You are right about having the one meal and leaving it at that...problem is, I'd like to have that one meal every day! Comfort food, dontcha know?

There has to be a happy balance. Remember, you are on an "Eat To Live Plan"? So, eat the right balance you need to maintain your present shape, if you are where you like to be. If not, then don't eat that meal that often until you are at the weight you want to be at.

You have to eat to live, which is the plan to begin with. It's all about perspective/perception of yourself which you need to address. When comfortable, then find a good balance where you don't put on the pound, but can eat the foods you like. smile

That's so sweet, Cags, and so true, but you still don't know what this plan is?

And, btw, it's all true. No scam here, no buying into products. It's all common sense.

              Off and on since June.

I went gung-ho in June and was amazed at a 7-pound loss in less than three weeks.

Then, my commitment waned. I got back on the wagon off and on, but have still lost another 3 pounds.

I know the results can be excellent, and so I'm digging my heels in now, committed to not lapsing.

One thing I can tell you: I have cut these things out of my diet completely: oils and fats, milk, wheat, and meats. Sugar remains a bit of a problem, as does a freshly baked chicken...who wants oatmeal without sugar or an autumn without a chicken baking in the oven?

Tonight's dinner salad (a salad is a meal on this plan) is quite nice.

Lots and lots of romaine lettuce, a sliced yellow sweet bell pepper, some onion for zest, a diced apple marinated in lemon juice, about a dozen black seedless grapes cut in half, raw sunflower seeds, and seasoned rice wine vinegar for dressing.

It looks beautiful, tastes great, and is filling. But I STILL WANT APPLE PIE!

I wish I could remember what famous person I heard on the radio discussing how he lost a lot of weight.  It was a pretty simple plan, really.  No white flour products (but whole-wheat was okay); no potatoes; no sweets - but he may have allowed himself a dessert on very rare occasions.

Anyway, keep on holding on!  Stay strong, you can do it!!

I don't know if it was Bill Clinton that you heard...he's doing it, has been for a long time. Heart-healthy. It is a very simple plan. In addition to the foods you mentioned, anything processed with added chemicals is out (no cheese curls, damn it! and fast food...forget it).

I've always been a sensible eater, with good food in the house and balanced meals. But, I got to a point where calories expended weren't balancing out calories taken in. Thanks so much for your encouragement. smile

Kudos to you for sticking it out as long as you have.  I requested his book months ago from the library and it finally arrived today, coincidentally.  Vegetarianism is hard.  Maybe you could try some new recipes that still follow the plan - have you checked out the Engine 2 diet? http://engine2diet.com/       Even Dr. Fuhrman recommends it.  I'm in the same boat as you - calories in don't equal calories expended.  Good luck!

            Thanks for the encouraging words!

It's interesting that you just received the Fuhrman book yesterday. I never heard of the Engine 2 Diet, but I'll be sure to check out the recipes.

Good luck in your adventure, too. smile
