Sorry, but I am in a suggesting new features mood.
Why not put view duration stats on the 'my account page'? If user metrics are becoming more important it could replace something like the number of slide show views (pretty useless for most people).
I am carefully deleting or updating hubs that don't hit the spot and it would save me a lot of time.
Low views + low view time + failed update= deletion.
It would certainly be a good, quick pointer for hubbers as to what writing works and what doesn't.
I love this idea! Low duration tells the author a great deal of information. If the advertising dollars rise with duration, this metric is important to both the reader and to the other stakeholders of HP.
That would be really nice, actually. Like really nice. I know I could get similar information from Google Analytics, but it's a pain and it would be really nice to see which hubs are performing well (view length) and which aren't... and perhaps I will edit hubs accordingly.
I do agree that the slideshow views are kind of pointless, especially since we can't control whether or not a slideshow appears on our hubs (aside from limiting the number of pictures... but I wouldn't do that just to avoid a slideshow.)
Really? You most certainly can control whether or not a slideshow is used on your hub. And, that's aside from limiting pictures.
If you go into settings you can turn the slide show off. I often forget and so have fairly pointless slide shows because the default setting is on (shouldn't it be the other way round?).
One issue I didn't mention with view duration, is that sometimes there is a huge mismatch between Google Analytics and HP's view duration.
I reckon it might be down to lumping view times on slide shows (always very short for mine according to analytics) with view times for the actual page. It can be scary to go to a very popular page and discover it is only getting one star in view duration.
Ooh! I did NOT know that. I heard somewhere that we were stuck with the slideshows, so I didn't give it a second glance.
What are the effects, other than aesthetic ones, of having a slideshow disabled versus it being enabled?
I will be honest, I don't know what the effects are. I would guess you make some money from ads clicked during the slide show. At the same time, they might have a negative affect on your user metrics (average time spent on page).
If Panda is about making use of user metrics (widely speculated), slide shows might be a good thing to switch off, unless they happen to be genuinely great.

I have just realised that the view duration for several hubs of mine is not properly working. Hubs that were previously showing a duration are now reporting that not enough data has been collected. Here are some examples:...

This is an interesting, if highly speculative, discussion on what Panda is about: http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/4302140.htmThe stuff from Matt Cutts, a few weeks ago, about page readability as an issue certainly suggests user metrics are starting to be more important. Also, there have been...

These show at the top of each article, but it would be nice to view them easily. This would give writers an idea as to how engaged readers are without having to check Google Analytics and would be much less tedious. With this feature, we would quickly know which hubs need to be upgraded.

I noticed that one of the Hubmetrics numbers on hubs is view duration. It tells you how long people stay glued to each of your hubs before clicking away for something else. I know that Google measures view duration as well. Do you think that pages that get viewed longer are...

How do I have 10 slideshow views today for a hub that had no visits today?
