PayPal Payment Hold Policy (affect us?)

   I see that money you receive on paypal will now be held for 21 days. Will they hold our HubPages payments, or does this only exclusively refer to people who receive payments from ebay, amazon etc..?
   
   This still kinda sucks reguardless, my friend wants me to sell a bunch of his stuff on ebay, I seriously doubt I am going to do it now.
   
   I just hope this does not affect our HP payments because we already have to wait nearly a month.

      I hadn't heard that, and haven't received an email from Paypal saying they are changing their policies.
      
      Where does it say they will hold money for 21 days?

   Well I've just logged into my paypal account and there is no message (and I withdrew my squidoo money yesterday with no problems).
   
   My account is a verified account though. Is your account verified?
   
   P.S. Just realised my account is a Premier account. Perhaps this makes a difference and the restrictions are just for personal accounts?

   For all of ya'll who use paypal, this policy is being hotly disputed on the web at the Internet Patrol.com; there is a law firm in Chicago who has a data base of unhappy Paypal members perhaps for a class action suit. The law firm name is also on the Internet Patrol site so you can go sign up if you wish. It's been going on for quite some time,some of the posts go back a couple years, and some people are saying Paypal is getting ready to go out of business. I believe these are rumors, but the paypal hold thing is NOT A Rumor at all, doesn't seem to matter what the status of your account is, verified or not, hardworking honest vendor or not.
   
   I certainly would hate to have a bunch of money tied up in something through their illegal policy and have it lost if/when they went out of business. So consider this a caution.  There are other ways to sell things though I'm not familiar with them, other check services etc. listed on the web.

   I second everything that Silver Rose just said: no message about a hold either on my PayPal page or in email, premier account, verified, got lots o' money from Squidoo yesterday, moved it right over to my bank account...

   gerrywalker - I just checked that internet patrol site - they are talking specifically about sellers on eBay having the 21 day restriction.
   
   I don't think that is exceptional. Don't know what the law is in the USA, but in the UK purchasers of goods have a two week cooling off period where they are allowed a full refund.
   
   The "hold" period Paypal is imposing on eBay vendors appears to be part of the cooling off period, so that if someone requests a refund, they can simply pass the money back rather than have to get it out of you when you've already withdrawn it.
   
   The refunds thing is the very reason why Amazon and other vendors make their affiliates wait two months for their money.
   
   I don't think this applies to Hubpages at all. This is a revenue share site rather than a transactional site.

   After reading this thread, I just logged into my Paypal account and transferred my monthly earnings across to my bank account. I didn't see any message about a 21-day hold, just the standard "it may take 3-4 days to complete this transaction" notice.
   
   I do NOT have a "Premier" Paypal account. Just plain old.
   
   It does indeed sound like this hold is only for income from eBay, where it's possible you could get burned on a return.

   I just checked my Paypal account and I didn't see any 21-day hold notice.  I also didn't receive any email about it.  I received payment received email notice but no mention of 21-day hold.  I don't have a premium account.

   Maybe I received the 21 day hold notice because I have sold quite a few things on ebay in 2009-2010.

    David, I don't think it matters how much or how little you sell/sold.  Every time I talked to them (and I talked to different people several different times) each one told me somthing different, until the last gal said it was an eBay policy. So I'm guessing lots of vendors will go to other sites to sell if that's the case.
