Just wondering I generally don't bother, as I have to remember what I said initially, so lying is not for me, however I have a friend that tells the biggest pile of B.S., and I have always want to say "what crap" So today I did and they are really hacked off with me, a full blown argument developed and she told me that I was arrogant, and a total B...... Heard that on ebefore, and she is wondering why I am laughing. Oh Oh just been told, I am immature. Bring it on. ?????????????????????? At least I don't tell stories about a job I don't have in a Country I don't live in.
I can't imagine anoyone calling YOU that Mandy.
She did, and she owes me $10.00 think I am going to have to write that one off.
It ended with me saying, You don't even have a job where you say you do, to which she says O.K. Smart arse, what do you think I do all day?. To which I said Who knows Worlds Oldest Profession!. She went mental (totally bullistic) I am definitely not going to see that $10.00 lol.
mandybeau said: "she owes me $10.00 think I am going to have to write that one off."
Scottaye73 says in response:
"Mandy, if that's all it takes to get her on the "Can't ever borrow money from me again list" you did good!! $10.00 is all it cost you to never feel obligated to lend to her again! Worst case, you get your money back...win/win for you. : ) "
I have to say she's going to need help, I think the reason she is telling lies about a her life and "reality" she is hurting deep down, her selfesteem is gone south dna she's gonna need the up most help from you. this arguement you had is beneficial for both of you. She may be grieving over something deep down that she doesnt want you to truly know. That's my guess.
I think her worst enemy is herself, she is fighting with the world around her in her heart and wants what a lie was to be true! Your best bet is to pull her aside and express how beautiful and strong she is alone. Also if she is filling the silence always with other people or just with you with constant talking, slow her down, show that silence is good adn it can be a happy and beneficial.
there's my advice I wont be offended if you think im crazy but it'll help, trust me. I am being completely honest right now I have a simpilar situation I was in with a friend and I would listen to what I said.
I sat with her while a shrink said the very same thing, and she seemed to be in agreeance, when we left, she says to me" What daya make of that guy, I think he has issues, he is too old to understand my lifestyle, I said "You are 40 and have been for at least four years and he looks say 41" Honestly some people just don't see it like it is. She is forever 15
I am with you on that, i would not be able to remember what i said and it would end up bitting me in the a$$ anyway. I grew up with a few girls like that, if any thing you can get a good laugh out of it
Just goes to show you, don't ever tell a friend what you really think. Even the longest friendship can be fragile.
I once had a friend that told whoopers. Apparently this man had some issues, which may explain why he told these stories. However, the stories got to a weird point when he started telling me how he went on a camping trip and these women were throwing fifty pound darts at him. However, miraculously several of them really wanted him, and he did it with all of them that night. Another story involved an attic full of trunks and how he conveniently just happened to stay with two women for a week, and how they did it in all the trunks.
His lies were just weird and funny, but after awhile I got tired of hearing these scenarios. Apparently he told variations of each story to different people.
This guy is American, so maybe he is a long lost cousin . Guys do like to tell stories about their conquests, so that is probably a guy thing lol.
I don't tell lies; its an easy out and a sure way to have to write down different perversions of the truth.
I do spin tales, though. Manipulation is a great tool when used for the benefit of others, and not you. I learned this tact while selling digital cameras. It wasn't on commission, but if a customer really had trouble deciding I'd engage them further, ask about their lives, and weave a tale about a camera I thought would best benefit their lifestyle.
Often enough, they'd walk out happy and come back with nothing but praise. During the holiday rushes I would literally have people LINING UP to talk to me. I made selling a camera fun, interesting, and beneficial to the buyer.
People never understood how I did what I did, but I did it again to help people better. And whether or not I spun a tale to illustrate my points or not, I never lied to someone just to sell something I doubted they needed just to make my bosses happy.
As the good Doctor always said in that great series " House " -Everybody Lies.
See, I knew I liked you, CabinGirl, you have good taste in TV shows. Do you like Cold Case too?
Yes I do like Kathryn Morris and have watched it up to date, I also enjoy Life on Mars and thanx for liking me.
House rawks, any doctor that has a pet rat named Steve McQueen is fine by me.
I'm not above the old "my-car-didn't-start" one if I were going to be late for work; and I'm not above telling someone I have plans that I don't really have if they want to come over (and I don't want them to). Other than the very occasional thing like that, I don't lie - honest!
Must say I never feel the need to lie, I am honest as the day is long. My old gran used to say you can catch a thief but you can't catch a liar, or was it the other way round. Not sure as she bloody mumbled most of the time ; )
Thank you I am just not used to people, I am a bit of a loner.
Try new deodorant, people might tolerate you more.
yeah - and Goldentoad is shy, and badcompany99 is a virgin and Teresa McGurk is illiterate and Pest never did what he said he did with his socks in that hub that was deleted by the HP police ....
...only to our family doctor, to at least evade some painful injections and to skip staying longer in sick bed or so.
I also tell lies to new members aspiring to join my charity foundation, IFF, by promising them that we are going to be recognized in more than 20 countries before the end of 2011,which i know that it is impracticable for now. So if i say that i don't lie, then i am a big LIAR!
And you feel proud to write that on a forum for us to read, I feel sorry for you !
For once in my life I am at a loss for words. You, sir, are revolting on several levels.
:-o
I agree with Lisa, totally at a loss for words here!
Accofranco that is why people say the B.S. about Nigerians, they say stuff like that and with all the corruption in your Country towards the World with the scams, it is just stupid to come out with this. It won't buy you a green ticket, or any other scholarships etc.
Its not hard for people to figure who you are! So don't do it.
Wrong understanding ma, i do that to build their moral to work towards our goal of helping ex-prisoners and poor children in all races with Nigeria as a starting point, but to me, it is a lie since my finance isn't enough to take the foundation to that level yet, i try building their ambition up by promising them that we will hit 20+ nations in short time.
This is just a wrong understanding by you guys, even in military, that strategy is used to build soldiers' morale to fight, even though the commanding officer might know that the battle has been lost, he promises his batallion victory, but if you view this from a honest perspective, the commander lied, but he has to. So i was trying to let you guys understand that most time we lie without knowing ok? scam,Nigeria, B.S,proud to tell us,scholarship, etc,o what is this all about for Chrissake? You guys make me feel so hot and at thesame time cold. May be Goldentoad is right, bit of hate or what? I will change my hair.
You must be getting close to bedrock right about now.
Save the analogies of military campaigns. You outright admitted to lying to people to get volunteer involvement in a CHARITY for goodness sake.
Is this sort of thing generally accepted in Nigeria?
I'm not saying it doesn't happen in Australia, but when that sort of stuff breaks in the media the television crews and newspaper reporters expose the scum for what they're worth.
Everybody lies at one point or another. The problem is with a pathological liar, someone who lies about everything for no reason other than to make themselves feel better. Someone like that has so many issues they're not worth the trouble having as a friend, IMO.
If you do not trust someone stop engaging with them. Simple as that. Honestly I would be reticent to even donate to some charities here in the US, especially when I saw how the school supplies were indiscriminately given to all students, when the funds could have been reserved for those who were most in need. This particular organization claims to use funds for low income families, but the money is not exactly used that way.
No not at all...
I hate lies ...
I always stand by my principles and not to lie is 1 of that..so try to be honest..my suggestion to u all..

So amidst all of the misconstrued and prejudiced movies on witchcraft today, The Mists of Avalon was a TV movie that aired back in the late 90s (I believe) based on a book written by Marion Zimmer Bradley. Have you seen it and what do you think about the way it portrays the old religion and the...

Whoo-hoo! I've just had one of my hubs (about the Cardiff Giant hoax) selected as Editor's Choice. I'm really pleased as it shows I'm doing something right. However, when I've looked through the HP Forum Comments about how this will affect the number of views the hub gets, it seems as though this...

Technologically, it is no match for HubPages really. Things don't align properly, the user interface is far from clear and you cannot put an item in a collection by editing it - you have to go to profile > collections > that collection > add item and then click done? Who came up with that?...
