If you ask for your steak med rare How would you expect it cooked?

    I can't believe that people ask for steak in a restaurant and ask for Med. Rare, and bitch about it being raw inside? are they mental or do they just not understand the procedure to cook such an article?

      lmao..my dad used to like his rare , gulp ,I swear they needed the toothpick just to keep that cow from running of his plate!

      ok so med/rare is gonna be a nice juicy pinky red right? ( the juice will be red)

    Nah.  I believe you should say 'medium' if you want no rawness.

    I have my steak 'medium rare,' and that usually means a bit red with juices--and it better be that way!

    BTW, yum, I'm hungry...

    Medium rare means bloody in the middle to me. I remember my dad's favorite was rare.
    He would say "Just lop it's tail off, wipe it's bum and put it on the plate"

      Medium Rare means 'not cooked at all long enough' to me.

    I usually ask for "medium pink", because if you say medium, some places think it means well done without charcoal on the outside.

      You guys are pretty much onto it, But honestly I was a Chef, and I used to cook steaks that needed to be cremated to get the desired effect and the clients called them Med rare. Back and forward to the kitchen, new one each time..........Blue steak is pop. here you just throw it in a very very hot pan, chuck it flip it  on to its  other side and blaze it. Not only pink at the table, but you have to rest it so the blood coagulates so its cold as well.

        I worked with an ex-boxer for a year, and he ate all his steak blue. Just flashed both sides, only he ate it while still hot.

    Yeah, if you want it cooked through, go at least medium.  My very definition of medium rare is gray on both sides, red and bloody in the middle.  That's how I was raised about it.

    Personally, I do not eat steak, but this scenario can be applied to other things people order in restaurants.  Even at fast food chains I see people complain about what they ordered, and send it back.  My philosophy is if you do not like the way they make it, try to make it yourself.  Also, I have heard some horror stories about what happens to food that gets sent back because of these types of complaints, so I would not do that.

      I rarely eat meat, basically vegetarian, if I have steak it has to be burnt, so it no longer looks like any part of any animal.
      Macca's stories are really bad, I have heard the same sort of stories as you re them if you complain. If you saw some of the morons  that Maccas employ well here at least, you would say beautiful meal even if it was raw. Because they remember I am told, and hold grudges.  Restaurant, we just bitch but would never jeopardise food handling, we all have to have stringent Certs to even get in the door of a Restaurant. So that is good. I no longer do it. I'm over food, except for ourselves.

    There are many good food handlers and wonderful chefs in the world, so I am sure most of the time people would not do anything bad to to a meal.  However, I do remember once being told about this lady that came into the restaurant and treated the staff poorly.  Once they dropped her pizza on the floor, and a couple of the more rascally people decided to serve it to her anyway.  I have been told worse things too, which I cannot verify because I was not there, and did not know the people, but it would just make me scared to over complain about the food.

      Yeah there was a gross KFC one few years back, made it into the Papers.
