I'm having the hardest time trying to figure out Google Adsense. I applied for it, I was accepted, and it said ads will begin to appear in one of my hubs. In my account the earnings program is active and so is Google Adsense. The question is, do I have to do anything to add Google Adsense to my other hubs, or does it ad to them automatically? If I post a new hub is adsense ads automatically added? I'm just very confused... Any help would be appreciated!

They are shown automatically on all hubs - but only 60% of the time.

To check, you can right click anywhere on the page (NEVER click your own adverts) then click on view source. Do you a search for your publisher ID.

To track earnings, you need to login to your Adsense account. If you use multiple sites, you can use channels to track where your earnings/impressions are coming from.

Seems that you have not quite understood the significance of entering your AdSense ID in the control panel. The whole point is to enable HubPages to automatically insert the code into ads. On a website, you will generate HTML code through the AdSense account interface, instead, then insert that code into your web pages to get ads served there.

Ads are usually automatically added to your hubs, I just looked and they are all showing on your hubs.

Like Richie said, the ads show up automatically. There can be a time lag before the ads become relevant to the hub, so don't worry if the ads seem random at first. You're on your way.

"They are shown automatically on all hubs - but only 60% of the time."

    This is NOT correct.

    Here is how it works.

    HubPages is a REVSHARE site.

How they participate in Adsense presently is like this.

    100 People visit your hub.

60% of the time your Adsense Publisher ID (Pub-123456789 - your unique account number is displayed).  So 60 people see your hubs with Adsense Ads you will get credit for.

40% of the time the HubPages publisher ID will be displayed.

So Adsense will be on your Hubs 100% of the time but the split of impressions is 60/40. This is one of the ways Hubpages can make money by providing the services.

If your hubs are about topics that have very few advertisers the ads may or may not display or display something related.  This is because you can not make money unless there are Advertisers willing to buy ads for related products.

If you want to know for sure, BEFORE you write a hub, put the title of that hub in Google, look to the top and to the right... if Ads show up then it will likely be okay to write about.  Keeping in mind that Ads about Yarn would pay less than Ads about Sportscars.

      Which is what I meant.

60% of the time the adverts are COMPLETELY yours and all earnings with them.

40% of the time the adverts are COMPLETELY hubpages and all earnings go to them.

So if you put your IDs into HubPages you DO NOT have to post their HTML code in your blogs? Because my computer won't let me change the source code on my hubs.

Exactly.  You don't need to do anything more than enter the ID.

In your blogs? I think you mean "in your hubs," and that is correct.

*blush* yes, hubs....it's still hard for me to get used to calling them hubs and not blogs because I've been blogging my book reviews on word.press for so long...I'm in the process of transferring them over, which is taking longer than I thought because I have to rewrite (and remember) some stuff so I'm not in violation with "duplicates."

Is there a reason  you're transferring your nicely aged and backlinked content to an entire new site? You'll lose any backlinks you have as well as the age of the content.

People generally transfer away from revenue sharing sites and to their own websites, not vice versa.

I wasn't making money on wordpress so I thought, what the heck, might as well make some money. I have to have a blog for the publishing companies I read books for (that's why I set up wordpress) but when looking for a job in the field of literature, this is the only thing that came up. I know the $$ won't be huge, but in this economy, every cent counts! Eventually I'll build my own website, but there's not $$ in that, just a voice to help authors along.

Many people find their own websites make them more $$$ than revenue share sites. smile

And yet, you are here. Even more people apparently find that doing both works best.

How can a website that gives an additional book synopsis (2nd to the back cover of a book) and what I think of it bring in any type of revenue? Please, if you have an idea!

Sure, a public forum is the "perfect" place for sharing such ideas. Then anyone can duplicate your success, compete against you, outrank you.

@Website Examiner... huh? Confused about how that replies to what it says you're replying to.

@Booksbysteph - there are dozens of monetization options including affiliates, adsense, chitika, amazon, kindle,....the obvious one would be selling copies of the book, either hard copy or via kindle and getting a commission for doing so.
