Just a friendly reminder that today is National Bank Transfer Day. If you want to be a part of the Occupy Movement without having to fear the repercussions of ditching work, why not consider changing your banks? More people have left their large corporate banks leading up to this day than the entirety of 2010.
How many of you are going to switch to a community bank, or a credit union?
I'm in the UK, but switched my money last month.
While I support anything that eliminates B of A, Chase, etc. one must wonder what kind of Idiot organizes this kind of event on a Saturday? Rush to your Bank on a Saturday? Some Banks will be open in large cities, but most Credit Unions will have very limited hours or will be closed.
Hey anyone want to go boating this Tuesday? What you have to work?
I'll agree, the timing could have been better. In fact I'm hearing that a lot of people were unable to close their accounts because Saturdays weren't considered "Normal business hours."
Having said that though, I believe that everyday is bank transfer day.
Where are you going to put your money if not in a bank?
I recommend silver and gold, but it's illegal to buy anything other than dollars with those.
A credit union? A local state chartered bank unaffiliated with JPMorganChase,CitiGroup, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, et al?
Or in USAA or Vanguard Group?
Only one person bothered to respond intelligently to my question.
Thanks Ralph.
I am not putting my money on silver or gold. Why on Earth would I do a thing like that? What? Is the dollar going to implode one day right in front of my eyes? And how on Earth do you logically quantify the value of gold separate to currency?
Evan...dude...I didn't say don't put it in a bank. I said put it in a smaller bank. One in which you preferably don't support too-big-to-fail institutions.
Please. Stop taking my words out of context.
Holy crap, dude.
I just asked "where will you put your money", and then suggested gold as an alternative.
You got issues, bud.
To Evan G Rogers -Go ahead and put all your money in gold and silver. Go for it! lol

LOLOLOL - ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK
I regret not putting more in.
Now may be a good time to think about getting out and putting your money in something safer like a Vanguard Index Fund.
I thought the only state bank in America was in North Dakota, which has the best finances in the union.
