Mitt Romney is taking heat these days for contracting with a lawn mowing service that hired undocumented immigrants.
He is taking heat for being hypocritical in his immigration policies.
Judge for yourself. Here is the actual exchange* between Rick Perry and Mitt Romney during the Tuesday GOP debate.
Personally, I think Romney was sounding great until he over-explained his position (essentially, "I can't have illegals working on my property. I'm [b]campaigning[/], for chrissake!].
Had he instead said, "I can't have illegals working on my property, it's against the law" he would have scored (for me) a KO in this round!
*Exchange may be overstating it. It's pretty impossible to have an exchange with Gov. Perry. Rick Perry is one angry elf!!

This illegal immigrant thing happened some years ago, it ain't exactly news.
Really?
What in your mind qualifies as news?
The debate was aired on CNN just three days ago.
This issue was raised then and is being discussed now on various NEWS OUTLETS.
So that makes it news.
They remake a lot of movies too, doesn't make it entertaining just because the original was good. And any chance that the media has to stick it to a republican they will. Ancient history!
Perhaps you need to work on the ability to distinguish news from entertainment. Ancient history, in your dreams.
This wasn't some Katie Couric "gotcha" media moment, Repairguy.
This was Republican on Republican cat fighting.
The media just happened to be there to capture the whole ludicrous exchange on tape.
As I said (and if you read my OP carefully, instead of with your partisan glasses on) you will note that this could have been a total KO for Romney.
He had an opportunity to hit it out of the park with his answer.
He apparently did the right thing by firing the contractor.
I don't disagree with his solution of e-identification of workers.
But... he just can't help being Romney in the end.
He could have/should have said "I fired them because I don't sanction anyone who employs illegals." How it came out of HIS MOUTH was "don't bring illegals on my property because I can't risk being outed. I'm running for OFFICE."
World of difference.
Nice to see debates where the only person taking the High Road is Ron Paul, and as a result he can get no media coverage.
Americans are easily duped.
Well, you know...they really have to go back to when these 2 were in grade school. That's the way it's done nowadays..
Back to grade school, churches, people they had coffee with, what they eat, if they go on date-night, their grades, their military service, the color socks they wear (red...shhhhhhh), if they excercise, what time do they get up in the morning, their parents, their grandparents, their former jobs, what their wives did in their former lives, how are they as parents, and OMGGGG....did they ever have an affair? Oh...boxers or briefs?
Those 2??? I'd geuss Tighty-Whiteys!! Or Up-Tighty-Whiteys!
No kidding, LMC.
You just never know when your medal of honor is going to be discredited by swiftboaters!!
Meanwhile, some candidates' wives can actually kill people with their cars, but that's NOT news.
There's really no rhyme or reason to what gets dug/drug up and what stays under the carpet.
In the end, it's really about how you handle the disclosure.
Yeah...shame it's such a "Liberal" media
Perry is desperate, digging up old stuff on Romney. Perry looked as if he could spit nails. I thought he and Mitt were gonna come to blows! IMO, Mitt def won that exchange.
I wouldn't want someone as hot-headed as Perry in charge of the nukes. And, BTW, one thing I like about Obama is his cool-headedness.
He's a loose cannon, alright.
I seem to remember having a similar concern vis a vis Sarah Palin and her finger on the button.
BTW,
I thought the first part of the debate exchange was hilarious.
"You asked me a question. I'd like to answer it. Can I answer it, please?"
"NO!"
"It's my turn to talk. You had your turn. Now it's my time.
You'll get another turn after me. Will you please let me talk?"
"NO!"
"Boy, you're gonna have some problems as a president if you don't let other people talk!"
"NO!"
On the plus side, Perry did show some self-control. He didn't punch him out.
Perry is scary. Hey, I like that - scary Perry! I wouldn't want Palin to have access to THE BUTTON, either, but at least she doesn't seem as angry as Rick. I wouldn't want Christie in charge of the button for the same reason. I prefer a calm, rational leader!

Episcopalian isn't "christian" any more than Catholic is.
There are several hubbers who will back me up on this, Ralph.

I think Pres. Obama's Immigration Reform speech was one of the best he has given. He touched on all the right points. And I like the content of his proposed action. Here is the speech:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeT_vu31eawBut... I also think it was a pure political move. I do not believe he was...

Are YOU sick of the incessant illegal immigration to this country which was initiated bythe amnesty program under President Obama? Why? Why not? There is an influx of illegal immigration to America as a result of this amnesty program. These illlegal immigrants have no skills nor education.Because...

I cannot find a group that supports illegal immigration. Yet we cannot stop it. Now that is pathetic. So we must conclude that without saying it, some - many in America support it and do what they can to stop control of it. It would seem that this should be a target for midterm elections. Who does...

I just finished writing a hub on this topic and I am wondering if people out there think that we will be able to come to a consensus on a common sense approach to immigration or is this topic just too emotional for serious rational discussion? Thought?

A broken system. Why isn't the government doing more? Whether people agree or disagree with Immigration Reform there needs to be a compassionate solution. It's a human rights issue...and it's a crisis.http://www.thepetitionsite.com/843/643/ … of-summer/

Should all undocumented immigrants be deported?I recently read an article where the author quoted an Arizona woman whose police officer son was killed by an undocumented Mexican immigrant with a prior criminal history who had never been deported. The woman who was the subject of the article,...
