I want to have a huge fan base within the hub-pages community, it is not as if i don't want external fan base, i just believe the best place to build a very solid base is to start with hub-pages and from there move on externally.
Write high quality hubs. Participate in the forums. Read hubs and leave comments.
Do NOT indiscriminately follow dozens of other hubbers in the hope they will follow you back.
Community is a lovely thing, but focusing on internal traffic means pursuing a much smaller number of people than if you're optimizing for web traffic. Be clear on why you're doing it.
If it's for social reasons, to have the enjoyment of feedback and commentary from a few people, that's great. But if your goal is traffic or earnings, it's best to cast your net more widely.
Of course, if you create excellent content, you can usually manage both. But it depends on the tastes of a community. Each site tends to attract a preponderance of people interested in certain niches, and content that falls outside those niches may be wildly popular with some segment of the web which happens not to be well-represented on the platform where you've chosen to publish.
i appreciate your comment so much, about the bigger picture you pointed out i totally agree with you, but my question is: is it a bad idea to have a good traffic within the hub-pages community from a professional view point as an online entrepreneur. As in be very popular and become an icon back home within a period of time before moving on to the larger market?
I think depending on your peers for traffic is a bit self-limiting.

How do you increase the organic traffic to your hubs?

I have a suggestion about the forums, and that is to split the front page threads (recently updated) into two sections (which could be tabs, so people could choose which one they wanted to see.)One section (the default one) would be anything related to Hub Pages Official and Hub Pages community;...

A simple question. About 100 pages or so are added to HP every day. Recently HP changed its mind, and allowed thousands of un-featured pages to be indexed. You can see the spikes in the stats in the image, but the stats dropped back to the 'normal' level. I recently added a lot of pages to my HP...

Have you had a hub that started to get more organic traffic right away than HP readers?I was wondering if anyone is experiencing or has experienced high organic traffic for any of their hubs within a few hours or days of being published, more so that they would get HP readers. Most hubs tend to get...

The Googlebot visits new hubs within 30-60 minutes while they are in 'Pending' mode and the NOINDEX tag is in place for 24 Hours. This means that the bot does not index the page, and does not return for days or weeks. New pages do not get indexed for days or weeks. This causes lost traffic and lost...
