So much has been asked about traffic exchanges etc .  Here are the links Team @ hubpages.com sent to me.

http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/Mode … -Violation  (includes traffic exchanges)

And the biggie about traffic exchanges is it is a Google Adsense Issue

This is the message sent to my by Hub Pages Team

Generally speaking, we prohibited traffic exchanges in order to steer clear of activity that is harmful to our advertisers.  Google AdSense outlines it well here. Some traffic exchange services are closely associated with dubious click/impression-generating activity.  Please let us know if you have any other questions

I forgot.  They did clarify in another email that Social Monkee is acceptable for right now.

Ya know, I've avoided all that link stuff from day one. Mainly because I didn't think that it would be worth my time. Now I believe that it is not only not worth the time, all it will do is get you in trouble.

And here's a tip. I've got a hub with a combined, for real, around the world, honestly accumulated 140+ FB/Tweets/+1's. And the thing is still a traffic corpse. So, I mean really, don't bother with it. It will get you nothing and only cause you grief.

People spend hours on those sites, just to get zip.  With tweeter, they say you need to spend an hour a day conversing with people.  I don't have time for that, or to send messages, and reply to messages etc. One thing for sure, if they can't get you to join their get rich scheme, you are dropped like a hot potatoe.

If you want traffic on Hubpages all you need are good keywords and a well researched, well written article. All the rest is superstition.

I don't do back linking or social networking.   Put the extra effort into learning to read your Analytics reports.

Traffic Exchanges are cheating and they don't bring targeted visitors. I don't think you can rely on Analytics alone, although it is good to see what is trending.

Will is definitely right about keywords and backlinks can reinforce your choice of a low competition and highly searched term.

I don't know about your Analytics but mine tell me a LOT more than just what's trending...

I do not do any backlinking either - don't need to. Not to say backlinking is bad, but it's not needed if you use SEO correctly and write on the specific topics.

It may not be needed so much with Hubpages since you are benefiting from the subdomains PR, but if you start a blog or website, you need to build up the PR with backlinks.

Yes, HubPages is merely a "conduit." If one wants a good ranking with their website/blog, they generally need more than SEO and targetted niches.

      PS,

Does anyone know how infobarrel is doing? I wrote a few article there, but never gained exposure.
