This is directed to people who think they know that there is no such thing as God.
I would be interested in hearing your thoughts. Do you base your belief off of science, logic, personal experience, or something else?
Logic. I have a hub about it. But what difference does it make? That hub won't change anyone's mind. I wrote it for my own amusement and for the amusement of other atheists.
I don't mind if you have delusions about supernatural things. I have my own delusions. For example, I like to believe that the evil of religion is at least balanced off by the good. I don't know that to be true and I know no way to measure "good" vs. "evil", so that is a delusion. It makes me happier to believe it. If believing in some god thing makes you happy, that's fine - well, until you start telling me that your delusion expects me to behave in a certain way.,
I thought I had commented on that hub... maybe I didn't...
Eh, if you don't want to discuss that's fine
You may have. I delete most comments by the religious. My hub, my rules.
Who said I'm religious?
Just because I find flaws in your logic doesn't make me religious?
Then I deleted it because I didn't think it was worth posting, perhaps. Or maybe you never did post. If you care, try again.
Or maybe because you couldn't refute me pointing out your illogical arguments.
I'm not going to try again on your hub, I'm fairly certain you would simply not approve it. That's what usually happens.
Right. That was it. I couldn't refute your arguments.
Ayup. That HAD to be it.
Ok, I'll make a thread and you can work at it there.
So, you've logically come to the conclusion that a Supreme entity could not exist, but you're not willing to debate it openly? I envision a little dutch boy here.
Been there, done that. No interest in revisiting it with another bunch of religious folk.
Too bad. We've got a guy here who claims he can prove God exists. I don't get his logic, but it would have been fun watching the two arguments collide. Clash of the Titans, right here on Hub Pages.
I hope you're not referring to me. I can't prove that God exists. I can just show the fallacy of any argument trying to prove that God does/doesn't exist.
In our current state, it's unknowable.(Not on a personal level, but on an objective level).
No, not you. But if you started a thread and someone posted the impossibility I'm sure the person with the other argument would chime in.
I consider much of what I've read of your philosophical musings simpatico with mine. So, of course, I consider you smart and exceptionally deep.
Unless you start in on answered prayers, proof of God or miracles. Then, I'd have to raise an eyebrow.
Answered prayer, miracles, and proof of God I leave up to the individual. I personally think I have proof of God(for myself only), but I'm not going to try and prove God to exist because of that, because it's not an argument that could hold up.
Like I always say, tomorrow the butterfly that is dreaming me into existence might wake up.
He can't be bothered to support his claims. See, this is what happens, and you can see it in any of these 'there is no god' or 'there is a god' threads I've posted in.
When I point out illogical arguments, my comments get deleted.
It's weird. Almost as if some people welcome weak arguments, but can't be bothered to deal with strong arguments.
Ri--i-gth. That's it. Your arguments are irrefutable. In every thread I've ever seen you post in, in fact.
Irrefutable.
We'll see Pcunix.
I'm sure you'll just ignore the thread, or say you can't be bothered.
Let me say it once more and maybe you'll get it this time.
I've been there. Right here on HubPages, right here in the religious forums. I posted the argument that I later turned into a hub and we went up and down it and over and under six ways from Sunday AND I HAVE NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER IN DOING IT AGAIN!
Capisci?
I love you. Just thought you should know that.
I do... remember, I'm bi-sexual... apparently that means I love EVERYBODY!
Don't worry though, although I have just discovered my love for Pcunix doesn't lessen my love for you. You are still my back-up husband and first online girl crush.
I've always thought as myself as straight, but I can still love man and woman. I will always be your back up husband and I love Pcunix, too. This is mass utopia of love. Although not a Christian, if I was, I think this would come close to heavenly.
I don't know for sure if there is such a thing as gods but it certainly appears no such thing exists.
Science: A number of theories and laws would be violated if gods existed. Can a god violate them? Sure. Nonetheless, they would still be violated.
Logic: Logic would also dictate gods don't exist by the sheer fact that there is nothing distinguishable between how the laws of the universe govern themselves and the reality we live.
Personal experiences: Useless if they cannot be representative to references of gods. How are those experiences distinguished from anything else if no references are available?
The only reference that is relevant in the real world is, "God made man in his own image"
Unfortunately, evolution would show us that contrarily.
My lab rat status conclusion is based on all of the above.
Absolutely everything we do to animals for experimentation purposes is also being done to us. The parallels are so uncanny and blatant that it is impossible to discount as a mere coincidence. If we were lab rats to be experimented on, then what is being done to us is exactly how it would be done.
If I'm going to be a lab rat, I want some cheese!
*walks to the fridge*
Interestng theory. It makes you wonder if the rats think they've been abducted by aliens. I can hear the few who escaped in the sewers now; trying to warn the rest. And being laughed at.
It's possible. Whichever rodent wrote Secret of Nimh is probably still knee deep in cheese.
Yours is the answer, i.e.: first, gain the experimenter's attention (I have no idea how); second, impress (I have no idea how) or offer something of value (I have no idea what) to the experimenter; third, seek an improvement in one's situation.
I've never really understood trying to prove or to disprove the existence of God. It's all about faith and choice. I choose to believe, but if others don't, that's their business.

I am sincerely curious as to why those who do not believe in the existence of God would spend time and energy to convince others to believe the same? I am asking this respectfully and am seeking true, valid answers--not attacks or arguments. I just want to understand the...

Some atheists even acknowledge that they would prefer a universe in which there were no God, no immortal soul, and no afterlife. In God: The Failed Hypothesis, physicist Victor Stenger confesses that not only does he disbelieve in God, he doesn’t like the Christian God: “If he does exist, I...

This thread is for the discussion of hubbers views on the origins of life and only on that subject. Please, if you wish to participate, pretend you are engaging in a debate. Make your statement, then back it up with evidence. If you cannot back something up with evidence, dont post it. No links to...

Why is this type of delusion seen as necessary by so many Christians?
by aka-dj 12 years ago
So many Atheists and Agnostics refute faith/religion with living by logic and reason. But, to be really honest, it is totally impossible. What do you say?
