I just signed up yesterday and am not sure about things. Can you earn well writing poetry? And what is the difference between Triond and Hubpages?
Earning from poetry itself is hard work, good poetry is not understood by the mainstream and the net is awash with gutspill emotional writing that poses as poetry and this makes real stuff hard to find.
I have poetry here as alternate poet and the only performing hubs are those that discuss or analyse or have another function, such as - a couple of mine are designed to be used in teaching English and one is an analysis that gets the highest traffic but still in tiny figures.
One way to at least get Google to take a better look at it is to make sure you have summarys on all your poems. Highlight a few key words if you can make them work with potential ads. Your summarys should talk about something Google can relate to, not about how depressed you were when you wrote it for example. Then you'll just get ads for depression clinics.
And do the title keyword thing as in other thread info so far.
Welcome to Hubpages!
I guess if you want to earn well from poetry then you would have to have thousands of hubs on poetry, from learning how to write poetry to actual poems. However, so far in my 2 years on HP and what I've heard, no because there's too small of a fan base for it to be profitable.
But, like I said, it depends on how you go about it....covering every aspect of life and the topic itself with thousands of hubs, then possibly. Otherwise, no.
hmm......well the prolific poetr writer I am, I would say I get more comments on my poems than articles, but again, that depends on how real, genuine, and authentic you are, I am not making major bucks, but think it's what you write about it, and what people are interested in to tell you the truth. Of course it depends on if people can relate to you, and if you understand where people are at it, and what they're about. With 31,000 views I would say some one is reading my poetry! lol I wouldn't believe everything you hear in forums! lol
Hey Hattie,
Earning well? I realize you have over 1000 hubs, but like I said, to earn well, you would have to have thousands of them.
I don't know how many poems you have, but 31,000 views? I can only assume those views are on your poems?
I have a total of 13 poems and have generated over 34,000 views on those alone, but as I said, they are not money making. Which is the point this person was talking about.

"I'm new here, can you make money writing poetry?"
Actually, you can't make money anywhere writing poetry. And that is wrong, but that is the way it is.
Except for the 3 people who just won the HubPatron awards. Cash money. $500. I've got robbed.
ha ha couturepopcafe! Good point! Think every writer can say they aren't making a lot of money off their writing until they are lucky enough to make it big. You never know until you try, and of course I believe each writer speaks for themselves. Think you are on your own as a writer, and can accept any reality you choose in succeeding at it. I think you have to spend many hours in it, before you become one of the best. There are no limits! If you want to be a good poet, you have to surround yourself with them, and learn from the best ones. The ones already published and famous I would say. They made it obviously for a good reason. You either make it or break it, but if you have a dream follow it!

I have never written poetry before I have published my very first poem and I am not sure that I have written poetry now. When it comes to poetry I am clueless as to what makes something a poem and what prevents it from being a poem. Can some one help me out before I make a complete twit of...

Just wondering...I write poetry because I enjoy it, but I wonder if it's possible to make any money with them. The advice I get is to write "evergree" stuff that will attract readers for a long time. I don't think my poetry is evergreen!

Good day, Everyone. My name is Zeenat. I am a new member of HubPages community. I joined just 2 days ago. I've already published eight articles, three of them has been moved to LetterPile. But there is something very depressing. I'm basically a poet. Poetry is my passion. Today, I visited the...
