MM: "Brothers and Sisters" is a little too moody for this. Minor chords give it a seriousness that I'm not looking for. I like Coldplay.

AEvans: Yeah, I think it's just too associated with that event. It would compete with the video too much. Thank you for your input!

Here's an oldie. I love this song. Not sure if it's the sound you're looking for, tho. From Sly and the Family Stone:

    Everybody is a star
Who can rain, chase the dust away
    Everybody wants to shine
Ooh, come out on a cloudy day
'Til the sun that loves you proud
When the system tries to bring you down
    Every hand to shine tonight
You don't need darkness to do what you think is right

Ba pa-pa-pa ba pa-pa ba ba ba pa-pa ba pa-pa ba pa-pa ba ba ba,
ba-pa ba-pa ba ba, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

    Everybody is a star
I can feel it when you shine on me
I love you for who you are
Not the one you feel you need to be
    Ever catch a falling star
Ain't no stopping 'til it's in the ground
    Everybody is a star
One big circle going round and round

Ba pa-pa-pa ba pa-pa ba ba ba pa-pa ba pa-pa ba pa-pa ba ba ba,
ba-pa ba-pa ba ba, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Ba pa-pa-pa ba pa-pa ba ba ba pa-pa ba pa-pa ba pa-pa ba ba ba,
ba-pa ba-pa ba ba, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh

Ba pa-pa-pa ba pa-pa ba ba ba pa-pa ba pa-pa ba pa-pa ba ba ba,
ba-pa ba-pa ba ba, shine, shine, shine, shine

    (repeat and fade)

Or... how about this ethereal little ditty? But you would have to promise to include excerpts from the original video:-):

Agvulpes: Wonderful world would be too predictable, but I do have "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World" sung my that giant Hawaiian Ukelele guy, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. It's actually pretty interesting.  Shalini suggested it, here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAIKznMP … playnext=1

Don't Worry Be Happy, also too...something. Now I like "I can see clearly now..."  I don't think anyone has suggested it. That's a possibility.

MM: Aw, I have a "NO ABBA" clause in my contract.

Chris if Somewhere over the Rainbow interests you I have the ozy rocker Billy Thorpe singing it on my Hub. "The Wizard of Oz" it may give you a different slant on an old classic.

Ag:  I wasn't interested in it actually, but this one turns out to be pretty different. I'll listen to yours too.  I like a twist on a standard!

Here's an offbeat suggestion that has a killer base line. Might be a bit too funky for your app, but I'll toss the Chili Peppers into the pot:
    Give it Away
What Ive got youve got to give it to your mamma
What Ive got youve got to give it to your pappa
What Ive got youve got to give it to your daughter
You do a little dance and then you drink a little water

What Ive got youve got to get it put it in you

MM: Yes, I know this song by the Chilli Peppers well. Ummmm...no. As previously mentioned on this thread, I may use their "Mommy, Where's Daddy?" and give them all heart attacks! You've made a lot of great suggestions, and The Boss and Jimmy Cliff are both going on my short list so thanks for that.

Ag: Good version Ag, but I don't think the Australian National Anthem is going to work her.

Sixty: Thanks for your imput but it's not really right for this. Thank you though.

Thanks to everybody for your help. Many suggestions here have made it to my short list and I think there is a good chance one of your suggestions will end up being the song in the video.  Thanks again!

Chris, I know you would know but just in case there is a misunderstanding. That song is not and I repeat not the Australian National Anthem. But looking at the reaction on some of the audience it worked on a lot of hers

Very kewl, CR. Will you promise to let us know how your video turns out -- possibly post to YouTube so we can see your handiwork?
Oh -- and i came across a lovely live version of "Teach Your Children" by Crosby, Stills & Nash. The message is a bit off target, but the melody (and harmonies) -- lovely.

BTW, as Ag says, you do have the knack. And that brings to mind their classic hit. Not that "My Sharona" would be a fit here. Still, it's a fun song that I hadn't thought of in years.

What do you say -- Might be fun to collect the top 10 worst candidates (just for shits and giggles):-).

Here's my offering: My Way by Marilyn Manson

Hey M.M.:  Well, it's not my video, per se. It's for an agency in Philadelphia who are making it for a non-profit. A friend of mine is one of the top dogs and I occasionally do stuff for them. It won't be on youtube, but I will let you know if it ends up being a song suggested here. I already submitted my list to them. I like the "worst" idea. I don't have one at the moment.

Hi CR, Not sure if you're still taking "nominations." Allman Brothers -- Everybody's Got a Mountain to Climb

    http://www.last.fm/music/The+Allman+Bro … ?autostart

Everybody's got a mountain to climb
This road we travel gets a little tough sometimes
Sometimes I know you feel like you can't go on
Need somebody help you get back home
Need a friend to help you find your way home
Reverend Pearly Brown say there's peace out on the water at night
Big sun going down; Lord, it's a pretty sight
Red and blue across the water makes a wonderful song
Listen to it all night long
Everybody's got a mountain to climb
Don't be discouraged when the sun don't shine
Gotta keep on pulling; you gotta keep on tryin'
Everybody's got a mountain to climb
Everybody's got a mountain to climb
Who'd cross the face of a little smilin' child
Take away the loser's one last chance?
Who wouldn't linger down by the old river for a while?
You know the whole world loves you when you're dancin'
So, hey, let me tell you what I'm talkin' about
You can't go around with your lip stuck out
Life ain't all good, but it sure ain't bad
Anyway, it's the best old life I ever had
Everybody's got a mountain to climb
Don't be discouraged when the sun don't shine
Gotta keep on pulling; you gotta keep on tryin'
Everybody's got a mountain to climb
Everybody's got a mountain to climb
Don't be discouraged when the sun don't shine
Gotta keep on pulling; you gotta keep on tryin'
Everybody's got a mountain to climb"

Hola.  I have a few suggestions:

Paul Van Dyk - Time of Our Lives.  This song was featured in the movie "Into the Blue" with Jessica Alba.  There are a few mixes of the song, but I really like it:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtyiXxcZ9CI

Dashboard Confessional - Hands Down.  Awesome song, but not so sure how you could weave in to your video.  Great song though.  I love this song:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3JMb2ZJB4w

Howie Day - Collide.  Kind of a sad song, yet very true to life and awesome.  Potential snippets maybe could be used.  This song rocks.
