From the Guardian:
'Chief executive pay has roared back after two years of stagnation and decline. America's top bosses enjoyed pay hikes of between 27 and 40% last year, according to the largest survey of US CEO pay.'
One CEO pocketed $145m last year.

Ummm... so are you hinting that our ad split here will reduce when Paul shouts himself a new BBQ?
You could BBQ over blazing hundred dollar bills on half a million a day.
In fact, you could take your dollar bills and feed them to whatever insects eat cotton. Then feed the insects to pigs and raise them like that.
Once the pigs are big enough to eat, you could barbecue the pigs raised on hundred dollar bills on a BBQ of hundred dollar bills and eat the tasty chops off plates made of papier mache hundred dollar bills, delicately dabbing your mouth afterwards with (new) thousand dollar bills.
And you could do that every day if you wanted to, safe in the knowledge that it was hardly making a dent in your fortune.
Sorry to hear that you weren't invited to it!
The average wage in BumbleTown - NZ is US$9.72 per hour - $77.76 per day
You could save feeding the money to the pigs mate - just throw them a Bumbletonian every hour.. both the pigs and the bills are worth way more!
It is pretty clear that most of us are not worth much...
All he needs do is say 'let them eat hundred dollar bills'.
according to this article, 1 in 2 Americans are now considered poor.
http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/ … low-income
I remember all the warning talk of Brazilification when I was in the States a long time ago.
It seems a pretty apt description of the way things have gone over the last thirty years.
More and more poor. A shrinking middle class. A rich elite who have the power to order things in the way that suits them. An elite arrogant enough to disclaim all responsibility when they screw up and just get on with the business of looking after their own needs.
The corporations now run the government so as long as corporates are in charge, Americans can expect more in the future( or less)
There are a lot of people who do very little and get paid millions for it. I say it is corruption!
I will be honest, I don't especially care about the money in absolute terms. I don't care if these people waste millions on meaningless items like status symbol yachts or trophy wives. What I care about is the power this wealth gives to the few.
Mostly I care because the few have used their power in the last thirty years in ways which are so damaging.
One the environmental front the Kochs and the Murdochs have thrown up huge smokescreens of misinformation about climate change, for example. They have blocked movement towards sustainable economies.
On the political front, they have subverted democratic processes with armies of lobbyists.
These are also the people who have done very well exploiting US fears of terror to make a few more billion.
In the short term the worst effects of the new plutocracy is the collapse of financial institutions across the world- they begged for deregualtion of the financial sector then screwed up their stewardship of the economy.
