How to extract HTML code from a banner

   I have seen somewhere in the net very interesting, unique and fascinating banner appropriate for use in hubs or blogs.  To me they can easily capture interest of people because they blink, glitter, light-out and light again.  Can a good-hearted fellow hubber come to the rescue how this technology is done?

      Hi Nick,
      Hubpages limits what HTML and CSS coding you can do within hubs, for instance, you can't hard-code different colors for background or change the font. And the photo capsule doesn't support animated images (which includes anything that blinks or glitters), so you can't upload them that way either.  For now, you'll just have to save the banners for your own websites.

   And if I visit a website that has an animated gif annoying me, I'm apt to back out immediately.
   
   The other problem with that stuff is that it drains batteries on mobile devices.  I'd recommend NOT using that.

   As mentioned before, the HTML on hubpages is so restricted, you might as well just assume you can't use it.
   
   Besides, HTML isn't used for that. Animated banners are .gifs, which means they are animated pictures. Uploading an animated .gif should preserve its animation, unless HP has something to thwart it (never tried, to be honest, but it doesn't change my point that this has all to do with creating images and requires no HTML for it anyway)
   
   You shouldn't use it anyway, unless it's a mild flash and not spammy-looking (more like a cute slideshow). Otherwise, people will either leave or ignore it.

      Thanks paxwill, Pcunix, Rising Caren for your advice.  I am more interested in the technology if there is on how to extract the code from the banner and that is all.  If you know, teach me how?  Others I think will benefit from it.  Hope you get my point.

         It's probably not code. It's probably an animated gif or flash. If it was code, you could see it with View Source.

            I'm referring to the flashing banner in this MyLot site.  Are these banners (the ones that go on and off ) animated gif or flash.  If they are then I learned something and pardon my ignorance.

               Those are animated gifs.
               
               They are not difficult to create.  Google for "create animated gif".

                  This is hands-on learning in action.  From hardknocks thanks to all of you I was guided to learn a new technology animated gifs.  Thanks Pcunix and all. I'm thankful.

   The html for a  banner will have two parts
   
   the source of the image which CAN be an animated .gif but is not always so. ( I agree with the other posters, avoid the animated nonsense)
   
   the destination you would like the viewer to arrive on when they click the "banner"
   
   so if i read your title and took it for what you typed .. you would be able to recreate any web based banner by ..
   
   right clicking and selecting "save image"
   
   and then right clicking and "copy link location"(phrasing a bit different between browsers)
   
   then combining the image and the link with basic html
   
   <a href="destination link"><img src="location of image file"></a>
   
   the above probably wont display in the forum post so look at this instead ..

   Hubpages does not display animated gifs nor can you use the html required to make a clickable image, the best "hack" you could do is to make the link appear in the photo attributes as the 'source' or add the link in close proximity to the image capsule using a link capsule
