I am assuming by the adoption of an Islamic name, (even though it is a charactor, and between the events of Dune and Dune Messiah (1969), the name Muad'Dib becomes a battle cry on the lips of the Fremen army that sweeps across the universe in a jihad in the name of Muad'Dib's religion). and his Islam is innocent BS, he is a Muslim.

I have searched and find no biography on the man, other than refrences to him being a hero for defending the terrorists who blew up the transit in britain.
And from what I have read of his works he is simply a propaganda master for Islam.
