Amazon goes berserk!

OK, Christmas is gone, and I expect Amazon sales to die for a while.  Had a great month (best ever) last month at around 90 sales and earned $170, but don't expect much more for a couple of months.

So yesterday, when I got 26 clicks, it was a nice surprise.  Not nearly as nice, though, as the 34 orders those clicks produced, ranging from a few dollars to several hundred for one order.

So, newbies, keep working on it.  It can happen.

Now if some old timer will just tell me how to maintain that conversion rate of over 100% each and every day, I would be very appreciative. big_smile

And where's that new HP Amazon program when I needed it?  I probably won't get another click for a week now! sad

      Thats pretty good, well done.

Out of interest, do you just link amazon through the hubpages tools or do you have your own amazon afiliate account that you get links from?

I use the Amazon capsules.  At this time, you must have an amazon account to use the capsules, but that is to change in the near future.

Last January I had a total 4 sales after a great Christmas period - I've already broken this for January this year! woohoo!

That's what I expected to see as well - just a handful of sales for January.  It's great, isn't it?

Thanks for the congrats, but my browser isn't showing the secret of 100% conversion I'm sure you put in there.

Please repeat.  Or email.  Or phone.  Or snail mail.  Or carrier pigeon, even! big_smile

I doubt if I have had one Amazon clicks in the 11 months I've been here! Wilderness you have to tell me your secret, better yet I am visiting your hubs right now to read for myself!

Cardisa, I find that hubs must be aimed directly at a product or type of product to produce sales.  Simply throwing in an Amazon capsule to an informative hub doesn't work.

A product review, maybe.  A discussion of which router should be purchased for particular uses (one computer, a houseful, a computer+TV+kindle+android?), with several product links.  A discussion of cooking styles and foods, pushing a variety of kitchen mixers from cheap to expensive.  Titled in such a way that a visitor coming to read is already looking for a kitchen mixer.

Thank  you Wilderness, that was a great tip. I usually put my capsules in as an after thought. But my ads on my blogs are getting a lot of clicks though.

I started out that way - just adding a capsule for anything I though the viewer might be interested in.  It never worked at all for me - I doubt I've ever gotten even one click that way.

Some sales are so off beat that I have no idea where they come from, but mostly I can point to an appropriate hub pushing that kind of thing.

I had the same thing happen - someone bought over 25 products in a single night. I've never had that happen before! They were low $ value, but still.. it adds up. I haven't had nearly as much the past day or so, though - it was an awesome fluke, though!

I hope it keeps up on your end, Wilderness!

No, I've never had anything like that happen before, either.  And while most were in the 4-5 dollar range, at least one was around $300!

But don't say it was a fluke - I want this every day!

Keep working on it!  If I can sell on Amazon, anyone can - I'm the world's worst salesman. smile

That's great for you. I mostly put books on my Amazon hubs, since they are informational. I never got a payout after 14 months. Do you have to pick really expensive items?

Jean, I choose all prices.  From a couple of dollars to hundreds.

That strategy may change, though, with HP's rollout (if it ever comes) of the new program.  The smaller things raise your commission percentage - the larger make money.

Without the need for lots of sales, I may try to stick to, say, $50 and up.  A $50 sale at 8.5% is worth going after, to me.

I have tried every trick in the book, from selecting from Amazon's "most popular" to carefully tying the products to the contents of the post. No clicks no sale. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm even hooked up to Amazon anymore.

I did find a great deal on my new Smartphone though, but that's money out, not money in!

Hah!  I know that feeling all too well - I spent more there over Christmas than I took in. big_smile

I don't know how I've sold amazon items - but I do have "amazon hubs" and "informational hubs" and they're not written the same way. I rarely sell items from my informational hubs (I do have a few that have sold items, but most informational hubs don't sell). I usually set my amazon hubs up as product reviews or as a collection of cool/unique items a person might be looking to buy. Room decorating ideas/toys/sports, etc. One or two of my amazon hubs make the bulk of my sales, so not every one is successful.
