Quick poll to see what you all think.

If you could throw Barack Obama out in exchange for George Bush would you do it?

you are kidding ..... look at the numbers Bush was an abject failure.  Obama's problems stem mostly from having to deal with that mess.

        Nonsense.

Obama had 2 years with a democratic congress and did nothing.

Quit blaming Obama's failures on Bush.

Both needs to be prosecuted for crimes against humanity? hmm

      Both are idiots.
Both are completely useless to the country.
      Both are liars.
      Both are incompetent.
      Both are manipulative.
Both are so dumb that they don't know which way is right or left.

Your question is moot simply because the POTUS has no power to break the status quo.

Um...is it possible that I can pick option c, which happens to read "None of the above."  If you could allow me to pick that option, then I'd definitely vote for that, as neither of them have done a great job as president.

Are you kidding?  You can hardly find a conservative or Republican who will admit to voting for GWB.  Yet, somehow, he was elected twice.

Barack Obama is a better president.  He got Osama bin Laden.  Where would this country be if GWB had gone after the real terrorists instead of invading and occupying Iraq and wasting hundreds of thousands of lives and trillions of dollars?

Of course, I'd take almost any of our past presidents over Shrub, including Nixon. Harding is one of the few I can think of who was worse. tongue

As a faraway Englishman, i would have to go with Obama, the news channels over here, portrayed GWB as being 'confused a lot'. Obama does have a certain charisma about him, and his administration did find Bin Laden.

    1. profile image0
Longhunterposted 12 years agoin reply to this

First, it was our intelligence community, not the administration, that found bin Laden. And, while I'll give Obama the credit for giving the "GO" order, it was our SEALs that GOT bin Laden. Obama was just lucky it was during his administration when the man was found and he had to sleep on it as to whether or not to go in and get him. Not very decisive but that's Obama.

Second, if you're looking at the main stream media for your news, you're doing yourself a disservice. You should see how they portray some of the things that happen in your parliament and royal family.

How is English parliament portrayed in America? There are compilation videos on youtube of politicians picking their noses in parliament.

I often think that parliament is like a classroom full of kids.

It's obvious to anyone paying attention that they were the same president. Actually, scratch that. Now that Obomba signed the NDAA of 2012, he's officially Bush on steroids:

"Barack Obama is really what has made the left-liberal illusion fold under the weight of its own absurdity. Here we had the perfect paragon of left-liberal social democracy. He beat the centrist Hillary Clinton then won the national election. He had a Democratic Congress for two years. He had loads of political capital by virtue of following a completely failed and unpopular Republican administration. The world welcomed him. The center cheered him. And what did he do?

He shoveled money toward corporate America, banks and car manufacturers. He championed the bailouts of the same Wall Street firms his very partisans blamed for the financial collapse. He picked the CEO of General Electric to oversee the unemployment problem. He appointed corporate state regulars for every major role in financial central planning. After guaranteeing a new era of transparency, he conducted all his regulatory business behind a shroud of unprecedented secrecy. He planned his health care scheme, the crown jewel of his domestic agenda, in league with the pharmaceutical and insurance industries.

He continued the war in Iraq, even extending Bush’s schedule with a goal of staying longer than the last administration planned. He tripled the U.S. presence in Afghanistan then took over two years to announce the eventual drawdown to bring it back to only double the Bush presence. He widened the war in Pakistan, launching drone attacks at a dizzying pace. He started a war on false pretenses with Libya, shifting the goal posts and doing it all without Congressional approval. He bombed Yemen and lied about it.

He enthusiastically signed on to warrantless wiretapping, renditioning, the Patriot Act, prison abuse, detention without trial, violations of habeas corpus, and disgustingly invasive airport security measures. He deported immigrants more than Bush did. He increased funding for the drug war in Mexico. He invoked the Espionage Act more than all previous presidents combined, tortured a whistleblower, and claimed the right to unilaterally kill any U.S. citizen on Earth without even a nod from Congress or a shrug from the courts.

The left-liberals who stand by this war criminal and Wall Street shill have made their choice: better to have the militarism and police state, so long as it means a little more influence over domestic politics, even if that too is compromised by corporate interference, than it is to embrace a radical antiwar agenda that might complicate their domestic aspirations."

Betweeb the two, here is how I see it.

Both started wars. One with another country, one with his own.

Both apparently have a problem with the constitution. One signed the patriot act the other the ndaa.

Although I agree with several things Clinton did, I was disappointed as he left office. He had the budget balanced long before he signed nafta. Why did he feel he had to do that?

It is no way at all fair for our children and grandchildren to inherit the debt that the last 2 admins have put into place. It is not big corporates fault, they are doing what corporate does best, looking after their best interest, it is not the fault of the citizens of this great land, we hold it up, in my opinion,  the fault lies with the one(s) who let greed rule their thinking.

I would like everyone who is planning to vote in this upcoming election to do some research of EACH and EVERY candidate in the running.

Forget what you hear on the news, or in the newspaper, forget what you read here, do some research. Check their records. See what they have voted for and against. Research for those that haven't accepted any money from any outside source.  Their paycheck or their salary should be more than enough to compensate for their work.

Ok, why do I say this, well its simple. Many say the news shows are bought off. I can't say this for a fact, but is it worth our country being thrown under the bus just because we do not take the time to examine those running? This is a serious problem.

To my knowledge, their records are public record.

Don't get all caught up in the ads that the candidates are running. This is just a marketing tool designed to get your vote. Yes, this sounds simple, but that is what it is. How much truth are in those ads? Do you see clear agendas being discussed or mainly smear tactics against the other candidate?

Everybody talks about getting Bin. Clinton and I am almost certain, any one of the others knew his whereabouts at just about any given time. What has changed by "getting Bin"?

As far as running THIS country, let's stick to issues that affect us. There are many.

Other countries, this is how I look at it, I personally would not like my next door neighbor coming into my home and telling me how to live. We are not a police country. We are the United States of America.  At least for now.

I am not asking anyone to vote for a particular party or person. I am BEGGING  if you do plan to vote, please, just do some research on your own.

If I'm going by face-value, I'd say Obama. Not because he broke the boundaries of only white presidency but because I think he deserved to be president. And he changed America in terms of international recognition.

I like both of them and you have to remember Obama had to work on what Bush left behind. If he started with a clean slate, things might be different.

Both are good, neither better than the other - even though Bush didn't capture any terrorists....he did start the hunt for them.

      1. mom101 profile image60
mom101posted 12 years agoin reply to this

Take it on back to when the slate was clean.

        It got worse than ever.

Makes me wonder one thing. With the slate clean, could it have been a political move to sign into law a bill that would devastate this country and one which no president could ever dig out from under?

I use to enjoy discussing political matters, but lately it just seems that one candidate wants to smear the other one, then, when all is said and done, they are back to being best of friends.
