Rank Kobe, Lebron, and Jordan

   I am interested in seeing how people think these 3 great players match up. So rank Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and Michael Jordan 1,2,3. If you think Jordan should not be included in this because he is not a current player, then just rank Kobe and Lebron, but I am kind of curious to see who thinks Kobe has passed up MJ. So just rank them how you want and provide an explanation if you want.

   1- with no doubt the god himself air jordan.
   2- Kobe Bryant, prove himself and won championships.
   3- Lebron James still young buy probably will be number two.

   interesting. ok. so far we all agree that Jordan is #1. But #2 and #3 might be a different story. I would agree with Rotem, but when all 3 players are retired, it may be different. Thanks for the responses.

   #1- Jordan, of course - doubtful that this will change.
   
   Currently,
   #2 is Bryant
   #3 is James
   
   those two could possibly change over time but reality dictates that LeBron still has some catch-up to do to usurp Kobe's present spot.

   I have to say that I am a Laker fan, but Lebron has surpassed Kobe.  He's bigger, stronger, just as quick, and a better teammate at this point in his career as an individual player.  However, he hasn't figured out how to win the really big games.  He'll put up 40, but his team will lose.  The really difficult thing for Lebron is he doesn't have a teammate to lean on like Kobe did with Shaq.  He's going to have to learn to win like Jordan did and maybe someday (when he's playing in NYC) he'll get his Pippen.
   
   Kobe is an incredible competitor, and seems to take more physical punishment in games than Lebron.  In this playoff run it's going to be interesting to see if Kobe's will to win will outlast the physical beating he's taking in every game. 
   
   Matchup wise, Kobe often guards bigger and stronger players like Carmelo.  While, Lebron usually guards down.  This is a little odd.  I'd rather see him muscle up a taller, but weaker player.
   
   If Lebron doesn't learn to win, he will go down in history behind Kobe.  But if he does learn to win, he has a chance of surpassing Jordan.

      wow...great! very well said! I don't think Lebron has quite passed Kobe yet, but if the Cavs can pull a big run off and beat the Magic, it may all change....especially if the Cavs win the Finals. It would be cool to see Lebron vs. Kobe in the Finals.

   1.) Jordan
   2.) Kobe
   3.) LeBron
   
   I use greatest and rankings according to their achievements. So my list will vary.
   
   1. Jordan - 6 NBA Championships - 6 NBA Finals MVP's.scoring titles, No. 1 All offense and No. 1 All-defense in same year multiple times.
   And how many scoring titles?
   Jordan never won without Pippen.
   The Competition and physical play was fierce in the 90's. Yes, I am late 30's so I know.
   
   2.) Magic Johnson - 5 NBA Titles, Finals MVP's as well.
   
   3.) Larry Bird - 4 titles? (not sure)
   
   4.) Shaq - 4 NBA Titles - 3 Finals MVP's
   
   5.) Kobe Bryant - 3 NBA Titles; but NO Titles w/o Shaq
   if Kobe wins 1 or 2 more without Shaq, he moves up.
   
   6.) Lebron - could be another Barkley or Ewing.. A Great player but NO rings. (so no discussion) If Lebron wins 2 or 3 with his average quality teammates, he moves up.
   
   You could argue that Wade is better than Lebron at least he has a ring. When Wade is healthy and gets good support from his team they are deadly. He also has an all around game.

   Those who argue that a player is great just because he has won more rings than another are ignorant of the facts. Most Great players do not have a great supporting cast. They have mediocre guys that occasionally get the job done. No ONE player (big or small) can win a championship on their own. So if people want to argue that Kobe sucks because he hasn't won a ring since Shaq left, they're wrong. Same way Shaq only won a ring once he left LA because he had Wade in top shape. Once he started to get hurt, what happened, the Heat tanked! That does not signify that Shaq is not a great player. Same way Jordan would have never been as successful without Pippen and the rest of the cast all those years in Chicago.

    After seeing LBJ's winning three the other night, I think he has it in him to jump Kobe.  I'm really hoping that the Cavs can pull through the Magic so we can see Kobe vs. Lebron in the finals.  It'll be like Jordan vs. Barkley in the early nineties!

    Jordan no 1, 6 rings and proven. Kobe no 2, 3 rings and more experince. Labron no 3, the future, might surpass both Jordan and Kobe

    lots and lots of great players who can score at will are NOT great. What do the pro's and analysts say?
    A player is great when he can make his cast better. So, lets put the old Cavaliers team in that category ( Daugherty, Price, Ehlo, Nance), The Knicks (Oakley, Starks, Ewing, et al), the Jazz (Malone, Stockton) These greats never got their ring because of .....Jordan.
    
    So, is Lebron great, Yes by any measure. But will LeBron ever get his ring? No, if the teams he plays against are better teams.  He is supposed to be the ultimate team player. I guess he needs another great player to do it. Jordan had Pippen, Kobe had Shaq, Duncan has Ginobli, Parker and before that Robinson, Shaq had Wade who just took over against Dallas) Do not forget about Wade. He will rise again if he gets a good scorer.
    
    I am a fan of the game. Lebron is outstanding. Give him some inside pivot footwork like Kobe or MJ had and game over.
    True if you put LeBron on Lakers team, he'd have his rings.
    Cavs need to get rid of Ilgauskus, Varejao and get a real shooting guard. It has always been 2 dominant scorers on a team winning a championship. never 1 guy, that I can remember except for Wade.
    
    For me, it is still Jordan, Kobe and LeBron. They are all great but ranking will always be determined by # of rings. As an example, I'd take Bill Russell (11 or 12 rings) over Wilt (1 or 2).
