First thing leftist Dictatorships do is stifle the opposition. Because you liberal loons don't agree then it's Hate speech? So who decides what the "lies" are? You? What qualifies you. I probaly wouldn't agree with anything out of your Socialist mouth. But im not calling for MSNBC to be banned.
Well howdy Tex! How many leftist Dictatorships have you had experience with? Aren't there some righties involved with our government now? Or have you lived in some other country with a leftist dictatorship? Or are you merely repeating some of O'Reilly's talking points?
Because I can distinguish reality from cow manure.
Like I care.
See http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/ne … t-20110524 fir example.
I bet you watch it every day, don't you?
"Fox News" may have been banned and you are all happy and what not, but what the heck, I'm pretty for sure you listen to music, and music is just a part of the demonic process as is the Fox News,RT,CNN,any live coverage that packs a bowl of lies for us,ect,. Now, question is: Have you stopped listening to music and are you content about that? The world we live in is run on a force.
I don't get why people think a foreign broadcaster has a right to set up shop in another country. We still have communications standards in this county, like you used to have before Reagan got rid of them.
And, to repeat, the whole story is false and we do have a conservative newscaster in this county.

Should we censure the NY Times?
hi guys i am about of fox banned in canda. so that please something about of help please tell me fox baaned in canda.....?
Honestly we should ban all news networks ... msnbc and cnn tout their propaganda as well ... sick and tired of them all and our American politicians too. I must say though, every country has their issues dealing with corruption and greed, no country is left out of that loop.
Calling for legislation is calling for government intervention. I don't really see where the confusion lies.
I wasn't aware there was any confusion. The governement (supposedly) works for us. If the populous decide that new legislation should be implemented, then the government should intervene. No confusion, there.
Confusion is a natural result of "news" that is merely lies and propaganda.
Somehow I suspect dumb children grow up to be wannabe liberal intellectuals......sometimes I feel surrounded man!
I consider myself a "liberal."
Yet I support Ron Paul completely.
I think atheist are generally more intelligent than fundamentalist Christians....but I've noticed an increasingly disturbing trend of idiots that now call themselves "atheist." They've read one book by Dawkins, Harris, or Hitchens, and now they think that they're smart.
I could make a huge list of their completely stupid and half thought out memes, but it would make for a better article than a forum comment.
That's because some dumb kids never grow up. They become Republicans instead!
Wes ...I don't have a problem with liberals ,honestly , I suspect you may be more intelligent than some however, to state what you just did is questionable. "I think ateists are Blah blah blah" that is simply a biased and eletist mentality! Which dismisses any decency that might have come from your post! My one question for you is this......Why do atheists[or non believers]. ALWAYS ...burn a christian to justify there statements of non-believing! I've yet to get an answer from that one question on forums. Which really answers my question in totality. Non believers are generally just bitter ex- believers!
I'm no atheist.
I was ONLY referring to the kind that consider themselves part of the "new atheist movement."
It's sort of a bandwagon thing - not too dissimilar to the "Rock N Roll rebellion" of the youth of yesteryear.
I have been surprised by the news reports online that say Fox news has been banned because Canada has a law that prohibits Lying. Shouldn't there be a law everywhere that prohibits the news media from lying? I was under the assumption that the ethics of journalism dictates that a journalist should not lie at least not knowingly. So what is all the fuss about? Am I to assume now that all the news I have been hearing are not bound by any laws or ethics to be true? Disgraceful!
One would have to be blind , stupid and dipped in the perverbial tank of P.C. to think that Fox is the only media outlet that lies! Come on ! Oh yea ...."Democracy Now "is the only fair outlet of news!
I certainly see no "saints" in mass media.
I can only see various levels of criminal - and out of a group that is criminally insane, I find that Fox is the serial killer of the bunch.
Well lets see now ......Fox is 24/7 ,365 days a year and everrything else is second place to that alone. They have millions of viewers and why?....How about popularity! ....Yes they lie , they are slanted like an Italian cruise ship, and they have nice looking anchors........
That's like saying McDonald's sells more hamburgers so their food must be the best. Your logic is so lacking you have to be a right winger. Almost like the left is driving a Porsche and you're riding "ahorseback"!
I wonder who would indirectly kill more people?
Randy,...ts tsk , you remind me of an environmentalist who drives an electric car to claim green-hood but doesn't know that 1/2 the energy to charge the car comes from coal burning plants. In the mean time throwing his worn out tires in the same pile that I do!
You don't recycle your tires???? You must be a fascist!!
I wonder why nobody just sues Fox. You have personal injury lawyers going after giant corporations left and right so you can't say that Fox is too big to attack. If the case is there then go for it. Nobody is stopping anybody. But in this instance you have political opinions against another party that is in power but maybe what is a lie to the party being attacked is not necessarily a lie in court. So instead you circumvent the process and just ask the government to ban them outright. There is plenty of money on the left to pursue Fox in court. PLENTY.....
There is no one who would have "standing" for such a lawsuit. You need someone to PROVE that they were somehow harmed by the actions of FOX.
@ EmpressFelicity.
I know there are already regulations in place, but using the PCC as an example, they are completely toothless, or, arguably, unwilling to enforce those regulations. I also know that so often Governments are the reason for the disinformation campaigns and I know you'd need a hell of a lot of money to take the press to court. But, that's my whole point, any member of the public can make a complaint to the PCC, but they haven't truly been an independent body have they? The press, it appears, can afford and certainly make provision for, liable cases and shovelling out a shit load of cash does not appear to bother them to much. But, what if the sanctions were much more severe? Might that not be a deterrent??
Stopping them from being able to express these opinions might give me short-term satisfaction, but I know that it could return to bite me on the backside in the future.
I think they should express any opinion they want, I'm not in favour of censorship in that respect, I just don't believe they should get away with reporting opinion as "Fact" Events leading to the Iraq war is a prime example of how damaging that can be. I know it wouldn't be easily achieved but I think a campaign worth fighting for.
I don't believe in fighting for castles in the air - especially not if there is an all too real possibility they will turn into prisons of the mind.
I think this is the crux of the matter - you believe in using legislation to fight problems. I believe that legislation often either IS the problem or it causes more problems down the line.
Fox = A news organization that is owned by rich people with an media agenda,..... liberals and conservatives love to blow that horn. same as Msnbc , Cnn, BBC, .....on and on.whats the big deal ,isn't it all free speech .
Ethics in the media is like gold in the earth ......elusive at best . Congress and Senate in general and government as a whole AND regulatory laws against free speech? Please ! Ask Barney Frank about the economic regulations and about wall streets recent monetary windfalls . Didn't Hitler and Stalin try controlling the media?

Caught these little factoids about Fox News, courtesy of the Nielsen ratings:The median age of a Fox News viewer is 68.Only 1.1 percent of Fox News prime-time viewers are black. How do you think this affects how they cover the news and what they report?

I'm always amazed at how many people don't understand Fox News. It has a successful business strategy of appealing to people's conservative biases, which is why a majority of viewers are conservative Republicans.Fox is not a news channel that seeks the truth. It provides reporting and commentary...
