I really love to read books I want want to see what the favs are out there. I'll start besides "The Bible", I'll have to say

These are wonderful books and I like them as well.

Besides the Bible in original languages, I can't choose - it would have to be a favorite BOX of books.

Giving Tree is a great one - love Shel!!

I love Ishmael by Daniel Quinn - read it as a teen and it made quite an impression.

The Ecology of Commerce by Paul Hawken

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K Leguin

Patient Heal Thyself by Jordan Rubin

    The Giving Tree was good.

I dunno, call me a one track mind, but I'm way into Neuromancer by William Gibson and Snow Crash by Neil Stepheson. Mostly because what these two books represent have only become more relevant, and they've aged like fine wine.

A View From the Center of the Universe

It covers a full range to try to give an understanding of the universe to layman's turns and I think it is done quite well.  It covers everything from cosmology to the ancient civilazation.  It shows how many popular ideas were formed and gives insight into some of the latest discoveries.

That sounds quite interesting Pete, I'll have to add that to my list of texts to read.

    Bridge of Birds (Hughart)

    Romance...
    Seize the Fire (Kinsale)
    Anyone But You (Cruisie)
A Gentleman and a Scholar (Sellers)

    Time Travel...
To Say Nothing of the Dog (Willis)

    Science Fiction...
    William Tenn's anthology of stories

    Physics...
    The Dancing Wu Li Masters
    The Cosmic Code (Pagels)

    Social science...
    Entropy (Rifkin)

    Philosophy...
The Structure of Scientific Revolution (Kuhn)
    Discipline and Punish (Foucault)

    Humor...
    Bridget Jones's Diary

And yet I haven't read a book from start to finish in way, way too long...I swore I would never become one of *those,*, but, well...Junior came along...
