   What is the point of states having primaries so early in the year?

      States want early primaries because of the money. The early primaries get all the attention from the media, so the candidates spend a lot more to win those states. That means more money spent in their state on advertising of all forms, more jobs for people who work on the staffs supporting each campaign (and this includes a lot of people who might not even care about politics, like the people who set up stages and cater the various events), and more money spent at local businesses by the campaigns and their staffs along with the media crews.
      
      Back to the original question, I do think the extended primaries can be damaging. Rather than giving more time to inform the voter, they tend to create burnout. Will voters be tired of hearing Mitt Romney's voice by November? Will all these interviews give the Obama campaign more fodder when the two eventually face off?
      
      The early primaries play right into the hands of the Obama re-election campaign, because he doesn't have to do anything. He's letting the candidates attack each other, and perhaps he'll even use some of their own attacks against them to push liberal-leaning legislation. How happy must he have been when Mitt Romney released his tax returns and revealed what everyone should have already known: the rich have a huge advantage in this country? He could use that to push for a higher top bracket tax rate and a higher capital gains rate. If anything, he can show that rather than the solution to America's problems, Mitt Romney is the problem. He isn't a job creator, he takes advantage of tax legislation that favors people who make their money from investments rather than salary, and he uses offshore tax shelters to hide as much of his wealth as possible.

   I've been tired since 1994.
   
   But it is interesting how many different versions there are, I guess. Like now he says he'll fix the hole for poor people?
   
   WEll--when he was gvr, he CUT funding for poor kids to get eye and dental care....
   
   Geuss his idea of fixing the hole is making it bigger?
   
   And also making HIS cut of the pie MUCH much bigger. I see the hole he's proposing:
