Windows Movie Maker Question

   Well, GULP, after over-enthusing about how user-friendly the Windows Movie Maker software is, I have a question I can't figure out!  Help, please!!!
   
   I worked on a Windows Movie Maker Project on one computer, then tried to transfer it (as a project) to a different computer on a flash drive.  I didn't realize that it did not automatically carry the Collection along with it.  All of the slides in the project show a great big red X, instead of a picture (on the second computer).  And the necessary Collection does not show up in Collections (on the second computer).
   
   (Note: First I tried to edit a completed Movie on the second computer, but that didn't work, so I went back to the Project from which I had made the movie.)
   
   So I went back to the original computer where I had worked, copied the pictures from the Collection onto the flash drive, and then carried it to the second computer.  But, of course, the folder where the pictures are kept has a different name now. 
   
   So I imported the pictures as a group into Collections in the Project where I am working.  When I tried to drag and drop the pictures one-by-one onto the storyboard, I ended up with two slides called Slide 1, Slide 2, etc.  In each case, one slide has the needed picture and the other has the red X.  (I only tried this with five slides before quitting.)
   
   The movie has 436 slides (all with different durations), and I would like to make this as quick and simple as possible.  The solution I plan to use now (when I come back from an errand) is to go back to the first computer to finish the editing and then transfer the finished movie via flash drive.  But for future uses, is there any way to accomplish what I was trying to do?  that is, to move a Project from one computer to another in order to work on it elsewhere?
   
   The source of the problem is possibly different versions of Windows, but I would like to learn as much as I can about what's going on, since I will likely face the same situation in the future.

   Since the program only saves the shortcuts, the only way to avoid exporting the project as a movie may be to load all pics onto flash drive first and then begin working. However, if the flash is a different letter name on the new computer, it still probably won't work.  A project is really just an outline until saved as a movie.

      Thank you so much for this explanation, Bronterae!  It clarifies a lot.  I think that I might be able to find a way to make sure the flash drive occupies a USB port with the same letter on both computers - at least on the two I'm talking about here.  It may not work for every situation, but it's certainly something I can aim for.
      
      I hope that some of the other Hubbers who were interested in making movies with WMM will find some helpful information here too.  Thanks again!

   If you double click the big x it should say would you like to find this file. click yes and then manually find the file from your USB. Once found double click and it should be added in its appropriate spot in the project and all your other files should be found aswell automatically if they are in the same directory/USB.
