      Jim Kelly. I am surprised why he is never mentioned as even one of the greatest QBs of all the time. Kelly led the Bills to four consecutive Super Bowls, from 1991 to 1994, but lost all four to three different teams. In 2002, in his first year of eligibility, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
      Jim Kelly's number 12 is the only number ever retired in Buffalo Bills history. In 2009, Kelly was elected to the Buffalo Bills 50th Season All-time Team.

   It would be a toss up between John Elway and Joe Montana.Both great quarterbacks.

   Johnny Unitas is the best QB of all time.  He threw for over 40,000 yards and 200 touchdowns in an era when defenses had the advantage and the running game was much more prevalent.

   My favorite is Jim Kelly. The best ever is Peyton Manning. As I've said before, those Colts teams from the past decade and a half were not even average -- they were bad, yet they still were winning 10+ games just about every season because Peyton Manning was such an incredible quarterback. His career will likely end with only one Super Bowl championship, but I don't think anyone in the NFL has done "more with less" than Peyton Manning.

   Montana for me.  Brady 2nd but when you look at a teams talent you could argue Brady dies it with non-stars while the other QBs have valid spectacular weapons. I agree you gotta love Peyton too. Brady has more but I love Peyton's audibles and his down-to-earth attitude.  just a regular guy

   I think it's impossible to compare across the different eras of the NFL as it becomes an apples and oranges argument.  Obviously the NFL has become a pass friendly league in the last decade which will certainly favors the likes of Brady, Manning, etc. Guys like Unitas succeeded at a time where defense and running the football were dominant in the league.

    Like Evan just said, it is hard to compare across different decades because rules have changed.  Defenders cannot jam receivers all the way down the field like they used to, and many of the rough hits, like helmet to helmet, are now illegal.  What would Johnny Unitas be like in the NFL today?  Or Terry Bradshaw?  I do, however, think that a good measure would be consistency.  Who, after the learning curve all rookies face is overcome, played at a high level and led their teams to the playoffs and the Super Bowl throughout the individual's entire career. 
    
    Some quarterbacks that come to mind are Joe Montana, Brett Favre, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Bart Starr.  Joe Montana won four Super Bowls and had a cumulative 16-7 record in the postseason.  If I were forced to choose, I would go with Montana.

    John Elway is my favorite all time quarterback. Although he led the Broncos to Super Bowl victory only twice back to back in 1998 and 1999, he really is an amazing quarterback. He went to the Pro Bowl 9 times and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. I do believe that Tim Tebow can lead the Broncos to the same fate and join the list of amazing quarterbacks.

    Do you think I’ll get banned if I post a picture of Terry Bradshaw’s naked butt? I have the pic right here on my computer. I was going to include it with the pics in my hub entitled, “Why I Love the Pittsburgh Steelers (Top Ten Reasons).” But then I had second thoughts, that being my first hub and all.
    
     
    
    I can’t believe that Crystal June mentioned Tim Tebow in the same breath as these other QBs. I’m still ticked off at God for divinely inspiring Tebow to beat the Steelers in the playoffs this past season.

    The best QB of all time for me is Joe Montana.  As kid I hated him because he always won and always won when it counted most.  This was usually against my Redskins.  He seemed to make it look so easy and as a kid always thought he just got lucky.  But now that I am a football coached and have watched more football than most people should, I realize that his luck was skill.  No one can be that lucky.  Perhaps his best moment at least for me was mot the Super Bowl XXIII against Bengals in 1989, but the Monday Night vs. the Broncos in 1994 his last season.  The comeback drive was magic and the memory of it has stuck with me all these years. 
    
    I'm too young to remember Bradshaw in his prime and and the current crop of NFL QBs is of my generation.  They are good, but I would take Montana over all of them.
