What depressing news to start off the morning. I honestly thought he was going to retire after the head injuries he took in a couple of games last season, but I didn't think they'd release him. He's a 3rd receiver at best right now behind Wallace and Brown, but I still think he has something to offer when he's on the field. I guess the Steelers don't agree. Sad to see one of my all-time favorite Steelers go.
I wonder if someone else will pick him up or if he'll fade off into the sunset.
Me too, I am saddened by the news. He said he will not likely to play with any other team, he might just retire. It all boils down to money and that is a fact. Fans are sad.
Yeah, he sure can dance.
I'll miss Papa Smurf, but you can't argue much with the Steelers player moves in recent years with respect to the likes of Alan Faneca, Santonio Holmes, Joey Porter, Willie Parker, Plaxico Burress, etc.
In some cases it was all about the money, in other cases the player didn't have much left, in other cases the player did things detrimental to the team concept.
Players come and go, but the Steelers are still the Steelers.
We could be like the Browns (yeah, right) who some years back lost their entire team (to Baltimore).
I see the logic of the move but it's still hard to swallow. Steelers don't over-pay for players, period, and he's making more than a #3 wideout should. Besides, he may not even be a #3 come camp this summer. Cotchery and Sanders looked good last year too. There's just no future for him, especially at his salary.
Maybe he'll retire before they release him. I'd like to see him go out a Steeler. I have faded but haunting memories of Franco wearing a Seahawks uniform.
I'm not a Steelers fan, but the guy was an amazing player in his hay day. I did write an article on Hubpages about the move. If you are a Steelers fan you probably want to read it. He will definitely make the Hall of Fame. I will take him on the Patriots any day of the week if he still wants to play. He is still a great blocker and for less money a steal!
The Pats seem pretty overloaded at WR too. I bet he'd fit in well under Belichick though. My greatest fear is that he ends up in a Ravens, Browns or Bengals jersey!

The Jets are underdogs again in this game, although this time only by 3 points (some gamblers would probably call that line "soft"). What do you think of this one? Can the Jets find that magic for the 3rd straight week? The Steelers have a different type of passing attack than the...

I'm not sure giving away Odom was the right thing to do, but it seems like it's a play to open up some money to bring in the next major star to replace Kobe Bryant as he nears retirement. Don't get me wrong, Kobe has a few more good years in him. Does Dwight Howard make the Lakers a...

I've like Steve Nash's game since I saw him play at Santa Clara. I'm just wondering how much he has left. The Lakers have pulled veterans past their prime together in the past - Gary Peyton, Karl Malone team comes to mind.I still think the Lakers are two players away from...
