....palm trees, remote, quiet, cultural, unique, beautiful, rain forest.
What would you suggest, or if you have been to a place such as this, please recommend. I'm not planning to leap frog across the water yet, but in the future.

Want to talk to someone who has been there, done that. Pic below is similar to the 'dream vacation place'.

i have the perfect island destination - Dominica in the West Indies. Its got gorgeous views of the sandy beaches with Caribbean Sea shores... You can also see the Atlantic ocean, visit hot sulphur springs, natural waterfalls, go on nature trails and hikes, scuba diving - its gorgeous & not too commercialised.

I've just written a hub on this location as I live here and i felt that it wasnt getting the attention it deserved. Take a look & let me know if that fits your criteria smile

PS - Scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3 were actually filmed here...its gorgeous!

...guess it depends on what you want to do?  hang out on the beach the entire time and/or go and explore the culture, etc.  ....nice idea tho with those small island pics

...it's a bit different from what you've posted, but google Yelapa, Mexico - it's a small fishing village and you could stay in a palapa....fresh seafood everyday...nice people...tourists arrive only for a few hours a day - that's when you take a siesta....you could ride a horse through the jungle and up the mountain and check out the village at the top (about 7 slow hours to the top)...and oh yeah, there are no cars - horses and ATV's only

...here's a couple of pics of what you'll see (i was just there for a quick visit)

Wow, this sounds very very nice!  I'm going to check it out.....I like the idea of riding horses up the mountain. Now that's my speed!

Fiji Islands.... (your pics are taken in Fiji).. there are 1000s of islands in the group like your pics... but you must be careful.. as there are lots of castaways like me lurking among the coconuts! smile

Yeah it's pretty cool that it takes a mule to carry a fish home too!

My island was more primitive ... we didn't have mules even though the fish were bigger and green tees hadn't been accepted in public! smile

Check out the Philippines. We're composed of 7,100 islands, you can take your pick :-). I'd recommend you look up Amanpulo, Boracay, Panglao Island, El Nido, Coron and the province of Palawan where these places are located with the exception of Boracay.

This is an interesting idea. My daughter's friend's mother owns a resort there on an island, but I was always concerned about safety in the Philippines.  I just heard there was a bit of illegal activity. I guess it depends on where you go.

I like the Philippines. I have been to the place and I found the best experience in my life. The people in the country is very hospitable and very friendly.

The crystal clear beaches and the fresh air are so amazing.

I know some hubber here who have described that country well. His name is Expert Garderner in hubpages. Also mommyfreelancer.

They all look wonderful!  Here in Ohio, all we are having right now is dark sky and a lot of rain.  Yuck!  I would like to ride horses in the sun, and just lay on the beach.  Sigh...

Gili Trawangan in Indonesia is my recommendation. It is absolutely beautiful and pristine but has a lot of fun things to do. You can check it out in one of my hubs if you’d like.
Other beautiful places not so far away are Cabo San Lucas (top tourism) and Nexpa (almost virgin beach with bungalows) in Mexico.

Try Gili Islands in Indonesia near Bali and Lombok smile There is no police, no traffic on island. Couple nice beach restaurants with places to lay down on the sand and relax. You have also couple quiet resorts. I think it is cheap island if you don't have to stay in 5 star hotel.

Visit Boracay in the Philippines. One of the best Beaches I ever visited. Peaceful, fun, friendly, white cool sand under my feet, blue warm waters, cheap, wonderful people, amazing food...

If I could retire to an amazing beach house somewhere... I'd want it to be there, I think! Yup!

Aside from Boracay, there are other beach paradise that you can visit, i suggest you go to Palawan or Batanes(except during the typhoon season).

You can consider India also as a great trip destination, If you want to enjoy the diversity in culture, season etc. Here you can enjoy the beach mood in Goa, Mumbai, can enjoy the ancient culture and temples in the south India and much more.

Try St. Barts, Antigua or St. Maartin, both the French and Dutch side.  These islands are all remarkably beautiful.  They have pristine clear blue waters and sandy white beaches.  Plus many other great features you are looking for.  Great post!

By far the best beach i ever ever been to is Kendwa/Nungwi beach on the north west coast of Zanzibar. The island for those of you not familiar is 20 miles off the coast of Tanzania and surrounded by an archipelago of beautiful islands. The seas is crystal clear, the sand as white and as pristine as i have ever seen and some of the dive sites just off the coast line are breathtaking. What's best is that it's not terribly expensive and the weather is exceptional for 10 months of the year!

Forgive me for being biased, but I vote Jamaica. Best beach? Seven miles of white sand  called Negril in the west. There's also Doctor's Cave Beach in the tourist capital Montego Bay. Nothing beats my country for white sand and blue water vacations

    Pangkor Laut Beach Resort -

Pangkor Laut is a privately owned island located three miles off the West Coast of Malaysia along the Straits of Malacca. This piece of paradise has been 2 million years in the making, and here you will find one of the world’s premier resorts nestling in the shade of forest giants as old as the land.

You will find no other resorts – just secluded bays curled around pristine beaches, evening skies woven with colour, and a deep sense of serenity reserved exclusively for our guests. A combination of luxury, natural beauty and age-old wilderness woven together to produce an environment where peace and magically memorable moments are the currency.

Of the island's 300 acres, only a fraction has been developed to house the Resort and its eight Estates. Wooden buildings blend seamlessly into the forest as if nature had been the architect dictating how walls curve around foliage, and roofs open up to allow trees to continue on their journey to the sky.

Nature is respected here, almost revered, and it rewards visitors in ways that simply need to be experienced.

I've just copied the extract from their website - http://www.pangkorlautresort.com/intro.htm

Been there twice and loved it, loved it.....  We stayed at the sea villas, basically we were just above the sea and from our room balcony we can see the rich marine life..it was amazing...

The cleanest and nicest place I've ever been to was Barbuda which is a small island off the coast of Antigua. I've been to Thailand / Philippines / Australia etc and seen some nice places, the problem with the East Asian countries tends to be though, if somewhere is nice, they set about screwing as much cash as possible out of the place, seemingly with no limits on tourism, so they get ruined quickly.
Anyway, read this book Misspent Youth by Peter F Hamilton and you'll want to visit Barbuda. I read it, then spent my 30th birthday there. It was awesome!
