I read several postings in this forum and some of you talk about being flagged. What does it mean actually? what makes it like that? and how do you know that it is flagged?

    thanks smile.

If you look at the bottom of a Hub, where the "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" buttons are, you will see the words "flag this Hub".

When someone clicks on that, they are asked to choose a reason (from the list compu-smart reproduced).

This alerts the Hubpages team to look at the Hub and see whether it really does have the problem the flagger says it has.

If it does, the team unpublishes it, and sends you an email.

There is also a computerised duplicate content checker, which can flag your Hub for duplicate content as though it was a person.

If you are flagged for duplicate content your Hub's score will be lowered.

    Hi dina:)

    Flag Definitions

        * Adult - Nudity, sexually explicit content or links to adult or pornography sites
        * Gambling - Promotes gambling or links to sites that promote or offer gambling for money
        * Spam - Solely promotes another site, especially when Hub links all point to one site
        * Low Quality - Empty, nearly empty or could not be useful or interesting to anyone
        * Deceptively Tagged or Titled - Contains misleading title or tags that don’t match the Hub’s content; includes irrelevant, and excessive tagging
        * Not Written In English - Primarily written in a language other than English
        * Duplicate - You believe the text content of this hub was copied from another source
        * Other - Violates the HubPages Terms of Use in a way other than those listed above

Just because someone flags a hub is does not mean it will be unpublished by the Hubpage team, but if it is proved to contain any of the above it will be unpublished and you will be notified of this...

Another thing i had to drag myself out of the shower for to add...

Where Jenny explained the location of the "flag" Notifier.. This is the place where It is always advisabale to "flag" any Hub you feel breaches the above terms as it helps us genuine hubbers get noticed without Hubpages being drowned with those Hubs.

I see. So the only person who can see that flag is the one who writes the article itself, right? But it means that this flag system is being operated manually, so that Hubpages can't automatically control which one is duplicate and which one is genuine/original? I think sometimes one's opinion on this duplication might be right, and might be wrong either. I don't know how to decide on this... what do you suggest?

    thanks again smile.

      Source

I've collected that and other interesting snippets of information on a hub I've published called Duplication Vs Plagiarism.
